Rockwell Automation Tracking Pro(TM) Links Production Information into ERP and Supply Chain Systems

MAYFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio, June 10, 2002 - Addressing manufacturers' needs to optimize the benefits of enterprise resource planning (ERP) and supply chain management (SCM) systems with production-level data, complete automation leader Rockwell Automation has developed Tracking Pro(TM), an integrated, real-time production and process tracking system. Tracking Pro provides access to real-time information on products as they move through production stages, helping manufacturers operate at higher levels of precision and reduce production lead times.

"This configurable solution is ideal for industries where work objects have significant value, such as automotive, metals, and consumer products," said Wiley Wolfe, manager, Manufacturing Solutions, Rockwell Automation. "Tracking Pro provides information on the status of work-in-process at any point in the process, helping companies identify opportunities to improve their precision and efficiency levels."

Tracking Pro identifies production parts, tracks part movements through a process, and records specific part attributes such as color, shape or freshness. The information is accessible throughout the plant via operator screens and can be stored in a tracking database that will signal alarms as needed, as well as produce in-depth reports for further analysis.

Worry-free Data Integration

Tracking Pro is designed to promote a seamless exchange of data between the shop and top floor, and is scalable to other functional areas within an application, such as production, machine and process monitoring; error proofing; root cause analysis; and part sequencing and routing.

Unlike warehouse management systems that provide a broad process overview, Tracking Pro provides extensive, detailed information that enables organizations to make faster, more accurate decisions. Tracking Pro's web-enabled approach allows users to take advantage of a common standard human machine interface (HMI) to increase accessibility and reduce licensing costs. The plant-wide connectivity makes it possible to support different process architectures, integrate with existing architectures or platforms, share information across the enterprise and improve responsiveness within the facility. Tracking Pro can be easily integrated into warehouse, manufacturing, baggage handling or postal/express applications.

Modular Design for Adaptability

Tracking Pro's modular design allows Rockwell Automation to adapt it to specific user needs, enabling a phased implementation approach and seamless integration with standard products such as RSBizWare Historian(TM), RSSqI(TM), RSLinx(TM), relational database offerings and other information management systems. With multiple levels of configuration, Tracking Pro provides the flexibility required to support expansion or changes, which shortens the start-up, set-up and configuration time for components such as data acquisition, database visualization and reporting.
