SkillSoft Releases Search-and-Learn Connect for Learning Management Systems
Third-Party LMS Customers Can Now Use Innovative Technology for Comprehensive Searches across SkillSoft and Custom Learning Resources
NASHUA, N.H., Feb. 23 -- SkillSoft PLC (NASDAQ:SKIL), a leading provider of content resources and complementary technologies for integrated enterprise learning, today announced the availability of Search-and-Learn(TM) Connect, an adaptation of SkillSoft's powerful search engine specifically designed for incorporation into AICC-standard learning management systems. A proven performance support tool, Search-and-Learn Connect gives learners the ability to perform detailed, comprehensive searches across all licensed SkillSoft resources -- including courseware, Books24x7(R) Referenceware(R), SkillSimulations(TM) and mentoring -- as well as custom content and other resources such as Word, PowerPoint, and Acrobat documents. Search-and-Learn was previously available only with SkillPort(TM), SkillSoft's learning management platform.
"In addition to saving learners' time, Search-and-Learn also increases the overall use of available learning resources," said Lee Ritze, senior vice president of marketing and corporate development. "Search results are organized by resource type and listed in order by relevance. Once learners see how they can quickly identify and access the relevant resources for specific inquiries or training needs, they develop a track record of success and come to depend on Search-and- Learn for productive searches."
Search-and-Learn Connect offers organizations the ability to customize presentation, to track progress and test scores related to accessed content, and to run administrative reports. The solution is compliant with the federal government's requirements for accessibility by learners with disabilities under Section 508. Search results can include only SkillSoft and custom content hosted by SkillSoft; Search- and-Learn Connect cannot be used for any other third-party content installed and managed separately through a customer's LMS.
SkillSoft has completed preliminary testing of Search-and-Learn Connect on product offerings from charter members of SAIL, the SkillSoft Alliance for Integrated Learning program that promotes seamless integration among learning content resources, learning management systems, and other learning technologies. SAIL members include Knowledge Planet, Oracle, Pathlore, Plateau, Saba, SumTotal Systems, and THINQ. SkillSoft's interoperability lab is now in the process of final integration verification on these major LMS systems.
"Search-and-Learn Connect can help transform LMSs into true performance support tools for on-the-job learning as well as more traditional training.
