Overview
DB2® Document Manager manages the various states and transitions that occur throughout a document's lifecycle, from creation to final disposition. Document Manager brings greater efficiency to your knowledge workers, providing easy to use interfaces and deep application integration with common office and CAD applications. It also provides robust relationship management of related documents, as well as lifecycle and records management of documents, from creation to disposition and/or destruction.

DB2 Document Manager handles compound documents which are composed of multiple interrelated components. For example, a procedure might consist of a word processing file, an embedded spreadsheet, and a CAD document of which DB2 Document Manager can effectively manage these relationships, including their individual versions.

DB2 Document Manager:
Supports document lifecycle management by allowing the administrator to configure document lifecycle rules based on a simple, object-oriented "point-and-click" interface

Provides integrated records management with an automated approach of document retention rules completely transparent to users, and/or manual declaration and classification of documents by users and/or group
