Insightix Identifies Network Devices Vulnerable to Windows Metafile Security Flaw

ATLANTA, January 12/-- Insightix, a pioneer in the development of the new generation of IT discovery, monitoring and auditing solutions, announced today that its Dynamic Infrastructure Discovery (DID) for Patch Management solution is available to help enterprises identify and remove all vulnerabilities associated with the recently discovered Windows Metafile (WMF) security flaw.

Last week, Microsoft released a security patch to remove a critical flaw in its Windows Metafile image-rendering engine. According to network security experts, this flaw exposes Microsoft Windows-based operating systems to a compromise, if unpatched. By using a specially crafted image file, an attacker can take advantage of the flaw to compromise a Windows system that opens the image using an application such as Windows Explorer and/or Internet Explorer.

Insightix's DID for Patch Management solution positions enterprises to quickly identify in real-time all network devices, including those running Microsoft's Windows operating systems. Enterprises can then automatically feed the complete, accurate and real-time network information discovered by Insightix's DID technology into their patch management deployment solutions to immediately begin remediation (patch management deployment) of the Microsoft patch. Following remediation, Insightix's DID for Patch Management solution confirms that all devices requiring the update were successfully patched.

"The complete network information generated by our DID technology enables our customers to maintain best IT practices for assessing and removing security vulnerabilities," commented Ofir Arkin, CTO of Insightix. "By using DID technology, IT managers are able to locate all of the vulnerable Microsoft Windows operating systems and ensure patches are successfully installed throughout their entire environments."

Insightix's DID for Patch Management solution is based on its DID Collector network discovery tool. DID Collector installs in less than an hour and provides complete infrastructure information for patch management, vulnerability management and other IT projects within minutes.
