Scentric Launches Destiny R2 to Solve Growing Risk and Compliance Issues in Information Governance

LMI and Atlanta Postal Credit Union Leverage Scentric Destiny R2 Features to Mitigate Information Privacy Liabilities Resulting from Unmanaged Data Growth

ALPHARETTA, Ga., Nov. 1 -- Scentric, the provider of the world's first universal data classification solution, today launched Scentric Destiny R2(TM), the latest version of its flagship offering with enhancements designed to solve critical Information Governance problems through a combination of data classification and policy-based data management. Scentric Destiny R2 builds on the company's groundbreaking universal platform, scalable framework and innovative graphical user interface by introducing new features and functionalities that address critical problems in Information Governance, resulting from unmanaged data growth and ever-changing compliance requirements.

LMI, a strategic consulting agency specializing in federal government projects, is deploying Scentric Destiny R2 to ensure the protection and security of sensitive information in its distributed network. Additionally, the Atlanta Post Credit Union (APCU) is working with Scentric's partner, FiLink, a specialist in regulatory compliance for financial institutions, to implement an information classification and management solution that protects customers' private data while maintaining access for authorized users.

"Information Governance has become increasingly important in the wake of legislation which regulates how organizations must manage and protect particular types of data," said Jeff Hornung, CEO and president of Scentric. "As evidenced by our deployments with LMI and the APCU, Scentric Destiny R2 helps organizations achieve 'peace of mind' by protecting sensitive data and reducing risks without the traditional compromises."

New features and functionality in Scentric Destiny R2 include:

Information Governance:
o Universal Archiving - Supports major archiving platforms from EMC, Hitachi, Archivas and PermaBit. This support is built on a uniquely extensible architecture that will allow Scentric to easily support additional archive platforms in the future as well as emerging industry standards such as XAM.

o Data Privacy - The Personally Identifiable Information (PII) module provides the foundation for comprehensive discovery and management of sensitive data including social security, credit card, and bank account numbers.

o Gap Analysis - Email and file management policies for vulnerability analysis and comprehensive data classification reports. Applications include IT storage resource allocation reporting, e-Discovery, and fine tuning policies.

Expanded Systems Support:
o File System Support - Supports management of data stored on NetWare and NFS file shares in addition to CIFS and local Windows data available in Scentric Destiny 1.0.

Enhanced Reporting and Support:
o Customization - Improved scripting capabilities to ease integration with external applications by allowing Scentric Destiny R2 to pass the results of a classification to applications like backup and in-house developed data and information management utilities.

o Enhanced Command Line - Offers a comprehensive command line for driving Scentric Destiny R2 from other applications.

o Reports - Introduces new report types for duplicate files, trending of resource consumption for file systems.

o User Interface - Scentric Destiny R2 further simplifies critical classification tasks and also makes Scentric Destiny configuration extremely fast and efficient for enterprise environments with hundreds of terabytes of storage, hundreds of application servers and tens of thousands of desktops.

"ESG estimates that organizations will archive over 24,000 petabytes of information over the next 5 years," said Brian Babineau, analyst at Enterprise Strategy Group. "The challenge will be to identify, classify and group this data based on compliance and accessibility needs. Scentric's Destiny R2 product helps customers manage information more intelligently so that it can be archived on the appropriate storage system that aligns with the business availability and cost-to-store requirements. But infrastructure optimization is just a part of Scentric Destiny's story. With 50% of organizations going through an electronic discovery over the past twelve months and the increasing regulatory focus on information privacy, corporations have no choice but to manage information more intelligently. This requires understanding the content and attributes of all information, a task enabled by Scentric's Destiny R2 solution."

Strategic Consulting Agency Deploys Scentric Destiny R2 for Compliance with Government Contracts

LMI offers civil and defense agencies capabilities in six mission areas: acquisition, facilities and asset management, financial management, information and technology, logistics, and organizations and human capital. The firm also has extensive expertise in healthcare systems, energy, and the environment.

"At any given time we have multiple projects in process and each contract has specific requirements as to how project-related information is to be protected and secured," said Kevin Miller, LMI Systems Manager. "Our deployment of Scentric's Destiny classification product enables us to create policies that automatically discover sensitive data and move it to secure areas without disrupting the productivity of our users."

Credit Union Protects Members' Private Financial Information

The Atlanta Postal Credit Union (APCU) takes the responsibility of protecting its customers' Private Financial Information (PFI) seriously. In addition to the traditional perimeter defenses against intrusion and "data leakage", the APCU IT team decided is was time to get proactive in identifying and protecting sensitive data before it could be misused.

"With FiLink's Compliance Protector Solution based on Scentric's classification engine, we are able to automatically analyze our computing environment and move any files with PFI to an encrypted storage area," said Terrance Griffin, APCU's director of information technology. "The product creates a transparent link for each moved file so data owners with proper rights can access the file effortlessly without interruption. It is a great combination - secure and available."
