Modbus-IDA Releases Modbus TCP Toolkit

Hopkinton, MA (April 12, 2004) -- Modbus-IDA has released the newly developed Modbus Toolkit, a complete set of tools for developing and maintaining Modbus-conforming devices. The toolkit contains relevant specifications, implementation guides, and sample source code. Testing and diagnostic tools are included to assist developers in producing Modbus devices that will pass certification and ensure compatibility in the field. For existing Modbus TCP devices, the toolkit can help maintain and test the device using the most current specifications and testing tools.

"This toolkit offers users and developers a set of tools to expedite learning. Sample code and pre-test software should be a boon to engineers testing and troubleshooting Modbus-enabled devices," said Ken Crater, president of the organization. "Developers are always looking for tools to make the process more robust, and we believe this kit should go a long way toward saving time and money for both experienced users and beginners."

The toolkit is available to non-members for US $500.00. Modbus-IDA members receive the toolkit as one of the benefits of membership in the organization. Modbus-IDA is also working on a policy aimed at making the toolkit available for free to developers building open-source Modbus applications and drivers.

Modbus-IDA is headquartered in the United States. The organization is a group of independent users and suppliers of automation devices that seeks to drive the adoption of the Modbus communication protocol suite and the evolution to address architectures for distributed automation systems across multiple market segments. Modbus-IDA provides the infrastructure to obtain and share information about the protocols, their application and certification to simplify implementation by users.
