CSC Announces 'CSC Dynamic Desktop' Solution with Citrix Systems

Virtual Desktop Offering is First in New CSC Dynamics Line of Enterprise Solutions

EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Feb. 21 -- Computer Sciences Corporation (NYSE:CSC) today announced CSC Dynamic Desktop, a virtual desktop solution and the first in a new line of enterprise information technology (IT) services designed to dynamically respond to changing business demands. Offered through a strategic alliance with Citrix Systems Inc. (NASDAQ:CTXS) and based on Citrix XenDesktop(TM), the solution enhances agility, increases security, reduces cost and dramatically decreases time needed to deploy or upgrade desktop systems. In addition, CSC has been named Citrix's first preferred systems integrator for desktop virtualization.

With CSC Dynamic Desktop, applications and user data are stored on servers located behind firewalls. This enables employees to access their "desktop" remotely and securely, regardless of location, and it allows the IT department to rapidly deploy systems to new users or refresh desktops without having to touch them individually. In addition, customers can run previously incompatible systems simultaneously and upgrade to systems like Microsoft Vista that require more processing power without incurring costly desktop hardware upgrades.

"We are extremely pleased to be named Citrix's first preferred systems integrator for its desktop virtualization products and to announce this vital new service offering to our customers," said David Booth, CSC president of Global Sales and Marketing. "We chose Citrix based on the strength of its vision for a complete end-to-end virtualization solution that extends from the data center to the desktop. By pairing CSC's broad global systems integration experience with Citrix's expertise as one of the world's leading application delivery specialists, we offer customers a sound enterprise business solution backed by proven leadership."

In addition to the benefits described above, CSC Dynamic Desktop helps customers advance their green IT agenda; centralizing computing power helps reduce energy consumption. The solution also helps improve business compliance, increase business continuity and aid disaster recovery because the data is centrally secured.

"CSC's new Dynamic Desktop solution is a key step toward making desktop delivery a reality for users and, as part of this solution, XenDesktop enables IT to accelerate the delivery of Windows desktops to office workers anywhere in a simple and secure manner," said Gordon Payne, senior vice president and general manager, Delivery Systems Division, for Citrix Systems. "Our collaboration with CSC helps extend our strategy for transforming data centers into dynamic delivery centers for our customers."

"This solution definitely supports a green IT strategy, which is becoming an increasingly important agenda item," said IDC Research Analyst Michael Rose. "It does this by enabling organizations to increase desktop utilization rates, while replacing traditional thick desktop computers with thin clients, devices with comparatively long useful lives and which use significantly less energy."
