Reduces or eliminates wait time in the queue by allowing specific node resources to be reserved for exclusive use by particular users

Overview

LoadLeveler® for AIX® 5L, V3.3 schedules jobs and provides functions for building, submitting, and processing jobs quickly and efficiently in a dynamic environment.

Version 3.3 provides the following enhancements:

Job launch enhancements with increased flexibility and processing options

Advance reservation, allowing administrators and authorized users to schedule exclusive use of node resources

Support for preemption under the Backfill scheduler

Ability to stage executables when job steps are checkpointed

Ability to specify a fixed system priority for a job step by administrators

Ability to configure the central manager, providing more control over the scheduling process

Support of bulk data transfer for jobs that use either Internet Protocol or User Space communication mode

Release 3 is the last release that will support Gang preemption. The method used for preemption has been replaced with the new Backfill scheduling preemption capability.

LoadLeveler V3.1 will be withdrawn from marketing on April 29, 2005, and withdrawn from service on April 1, 2006. LoadLeveler V3.3 replaces V3.2; V3.2 is no longer available to order.
