Original Press Release:

LATTICE TECHNOLOGY Releases New XVL System Toolkit for XVL Data Batch & Automation Processes

San Francisco, CA, September 7, 2006 - LATTICE TECHNOLOGY, INC., today announced the immediate availability of the XVL System Toolkit. The software toolkit enables batch processes to be applied to XVL 3D data. There are 3 modules in the toolkit: XVL Processor to manage input and output of property information, XVL Filter to provide automation and batch operations on XVL files and XVL Reducer to manage features and further reduce the size of XVL files.

"Due to the increasing use of 3D CAD, the amount of stored 3D data is increasing rapidly," said Bill Barnes, general manager, Lattice Technology, Inc. "To facilitate the use of 3D data in downstream applications it is important for companies to be able to link the CAD data to ERP and parts management systems, combine different parts and automatically detect differences, reduce the size of the data while maintaining accuracy and protect intellectual property by managing data sent to suppliers and others outside of their company."

XVL Processor delivers automation to the process of linking BOM and Property Information to XVL data. For example, part names used by CAD engineers can be automatically linked to actual part numbers and other attributes generated by ERP systems for use with automated 3D parts catalogs and on line service and maintenance systems.

XVL Reducer can further reduce the size of the XVL data by intelligent reduction of the stored geometry. A typical use would be to remove all internal features of a model, leaving only the outside skin, for use with catalogs and other sales and marketing materials. With this additional feature reduction, it is possible to reduce the data size to 99.7% of the original size and still maintain a useful, accurate representation. Since XVL Reducer can remove certain structural features, consequently, companies can protect intellectual property. XVL Reducer's flexible options allow this to be done in an automated batch environment.

XVL Filter allows for automatic operation on single and multiple XVL files including detection of differences in files, automatic updating of XVL data on design changes, conversion to new versions of XVL and programmatic creation of XVL assembly files.

Since XVL System Toolkit offers an extensive set of processing functions in command line format, it can be easily employed for server-based solutions to process large amounts of 3D Data. The software is designed for manufacturing corporations, where effective use of 3D data is a business matter. Lattice Technology provides users with solutions for the batch processing of 3D Data and systems integration necessary to automate processes.
