Software facilitates process execution.

Press Release Summary:

With Variable Flow capability, Velocity v6.3 can handle operations in which data in one process stage drives creation of downstream process stages. Emergent Process Management(TM) function enables disposition of any unplanned product or process event that occurs on shop floor or other points throughout supply chain. Program also supports authoring of process templates for both variable and fixed flow process types. Templates include work instructions, graphics, buyoffs, BOM, and tooling.

Velocity by Intercim® Version 6.3 Advances Variable Process Management

EAGAN, Minn., Dec. 14 /- Intercim, Inc. announced today the release of Velocity(TM) version 6.3 process execution software. Marked advances in the product's Variable Flow Process and Order Management capabilities offer complex manufacturers even more control over the shop floor.

Building on Velocity's existing Standard or Fixed Process Flow model, which excels in relatively static and predictable processes, the new Variable Flow capability manages processes that are less predictable and lower volume. The ability to incorporate conditional execution and feedback loops allows Velocity to handle operations in which data in one process stage drives the creation of downstream process stages (including triggering other dependent and independent process flows).

An important component of the Variable Process Model is Velocity Emergent Process Management(TM) (EPM), which enables efficient and effective disposition of any unplanned product or process event. These events can occur on the shop floor or other points throughout the supply chain.

More than nonconformance
Whereas nonconformance is related to a specific problem with the product, Velocity EPM handles the full range of issues or anomalies that occur within the production environment and an integrated supply chain network. From routine nonconformances, Squawks and material discrepancy reports (MDRs) to any other process anomalies, Velocity EPM provides complete visibility to emergent events associated with the electronic shop order as well as to other business processes. Velocity EPM consolidates nonconformance processes into the execution system, provides nonconformance documentation as part of the build package and allows on-the-fly, technician-based or other standard rework operation inserts. "Expanding Velocity to control standard, variable and emergent processes means it can execute virtually any kind of process, in- or outside of manufacturing," said John Todd, Intercim president. "Flight worthiness certification and operations that span the supply chain, such as experimental parts tracking, can be executed effectively using Velocity."

Process Template Authoring
Velocity 6.3 also supports the authoring of process templates for both variable and fixed flow process types. These templates include all Velocity supported objects such as work instructions, graphics, buyoffs, bill of materials and tooling. An intuitive authoring environment allows the planner to present work instructions that technicians will see when executing orders cut from the template. This release also supports the use of process libraries for the capture and re-use of best practices to minimize effort in authoring and maintaining templates.

Disposition Planning
Velocity 6.3 allows users to create a disposition plan from an emergent process document that either revises an order (and then updates the existing order upon approval) or creates a new emergent order. This disposition planning or order revision capability collects important data relative to any emergent event. Because the disposition plan is separate from the order, work can proceed while updates are authored and approved. A full history of changes is available at completion.

"This capability helps manufacturers understand what emergent events really represent; their true life cycle and impact," said John Todd, Intercim President. "Velocity 6.3 gives manufacturers the ability to determine the overall cost of emergent events including the efforts needed to correct the issue."

Scalability
Velocity 6.3 offers the ability to accommodate dozens or even hundreds of users without compromising performance. This intuitive routing technology, among two or more application or web servers, is the most efficient solution to load balancing concerns. Running in a 'server farm' environment, Velocity ensures maximum performance, whatever the volume of server traffic.

Additional Features
-- Velocity allows unprecedented export control and filtering of data by allowing owners to authorize access to information by group, programm and by applicable export control classification numbers. This control of information-sharing can be applied within an organization or can extend to suppliers through a supplier portal
-- Alert Notes allows for automatic notification to be applied to a unit, shop order or operation. Acknowledgements are recorded and viewable in Velocity
-- Velocity is SAP Certified
