Macro Scheduler 11 Offers Improved Script-Writing Editor, Greater Productivity
SHAFTESBURY, England, Jan. 27 -- MJT Net Ltd, the leading global provider of Windows automation and scripting solutions, today introduced version 11 of its popular Macro Scheduler software. Macro Scheduler makes it easy to build script routines that automate repetitive and time-consuming tasks.
Macro Scheduler 11 features a completely overhauled script editor that simplifies script building and improves productivity. "With the greater efficiency and power in the new script editor, virtually any computer or business process can be automated, ranging from data collection and processing forms to software testing and network management," said Marcus Tettmar, CEO of MJT Net. "We've received a lot of very positive feedback from beta testers, all of whom have seen a substantial increase in their productivity."
The new script editor includes code folding capabilities and persistent bookmarks to help users quickly locate code segments. The advanced script editor and macro properties windows have been combined in Macro Scheduler 11, bringing its editing features and macro properties under one roof. "This makes it much easier for both beginners and advanced software automation developers to build complex scripts," Tettmar explained. "Plus, new and improved script commands continue to ensure Macro Scheduler can cope with any automation scenario."
As beta tester, Dick Lockey from Iowa Laser Technology Inc. shared, "The new editor enhancements are great! Once a script goes past a few hundred lines it becomes tedious and time consuming trying to scroll back and forth between different areas of the script. The new code folding can make a long script look more compact, and the ability to bookmark any location in the script then jump right to it makes editing much faster and easier."
Another major enhancement is full support of Unicode. Unicode now can be used anywhere within the Macro Scheduler interface. Most script functions also support Unicode (except those stated as ANSI only). "This involves a major change to underlying string structures and represents a huge development effort," said Tettmar.
Other improvements include:
o Faster StringReplace function for large string/text file manipulations.
o Ability to quickly embed any type of binary file into scripts and extract them at runtime.
o SSL/TLS support for the FTP functions as well as support for more flavors of FTP server.
o SSL support for HTTPRequest.
o Ability to compile macros to console apps in order to write to STDOUT.
As with past versions, Macro Scheduler provides a macro recorder so that automated tasks can be created quickly and with minimal technical knowledge. These recorded macros can be converted into editable scripts just like scripts that would normally be built by hand.
A built-in scheduler means that tasks can be configured to run at any time on a purely unattended basis. However, macros also can be assigned to hot keys, defined as keyboard shortcuts, called from the command line, run from within other programming languages or simply called when desired from Macro Scheduler's easy-to-use interface.
For more advanced users Macro Scheduler includes Microsoft VBScript, a dialog designer, a debugger and programmer's editor, DLL and Windows API support, and see-screen image recognition technology.
NOTE: Macro Scheduler 11 does not support Windows 98/Me.
