Composite Information Server (CIS) 4.0 Extends SOA Data Services Capabilities
SAN MATEO, Calif. - October 23, 2006 - Composite Software, Inc., the leader in SOA Data Services, today announced a major release of the company's flagship product, the Composite Information Server (CIS). CIS 4.0 contains extended capabilities for building, publishing and maintaining service-oriented architecture (SOA) data services, a critical part of a fully functional SOA. For countless organizations seeking to deploy an SOA for greater business and IT agility, Composite's SOA data services offer the fastest path-up to 50 percent faster--for delivering existing data in the form of services to new applications.

Seeking to address these challenges, CIS 4.0 builds on Composite's award-winning Enterprise Information Integration (EII) technology. New features include easier access of XML data within SQL, and improved metadata management functionality to allow users to import metadata models designed in third party modeling tools such as ERStudio and ERWin.
The latest version of CIS also improves the development environment by simplifying deployment, testing and publishing of arbitrary complex data sets using web services. Specifically, CIS 4.0 features XPath transformation mapping to allow users to establish arbitrary complex mapping of XML Schema elements into XML output, and the ability to store XML documents in SQL databases. Simply put, this allows flexibility in storing enterprise data and delivering it as business information.
As SOA data services make existing data more readily available for use by a greater number of people within an organization, protection of existing systems and access rules becomes critical. CIS 4.0 delivers improved caching functionality for dramatic platform performance improvements. In particular, CIS 4.0 offers caching of parameterized procedures and web-service calls as well as transaction caching to improve performance of procedure calls and web services operations. CIS 4.0 also adds auto DDL execution for database-based cache, which accelerates deployment of Composite's products.
In addition, CIS 4.0 extends support for SSL over HTTP, certificate-based authentication and WSS authentication to ensure secure data and credentials transfer for web-services based clients. Composite Software is also introducing support for RedHat Enterprise Linux on 64-bit architecture, and SuSe Enterprise Linux on 32- and 64-bit architectures.
