Sage Software (formerly Best Software) Launches Sage BusinessVision 7.0

Major upgrade "perfect fit" for many growing small businesses, with over 100 advanced feature enhancements, improved User Interface, Database, Reporting features, and increased support for Third-Party Applications

Toronto, Ontario - August 9, 2005 - Sage Software (formerly Best Software) announced today a new version of its award-winning business management solution for growing small businesses, Sage BusinessVision 7.0. This release includes over 100 enhancements to the application, such as expanded tables and fields, a new user interface for improved ease-of-use, a new database for faster performance, better data management capabilities, and easier third-party application integration, plus extensive new reporting features.

Sage BusinessVision 7.0 gives small businesses a comprehensive suite of business management functions that allows them to automate processes throughout their business operations, including receivables, payables, inventory, payroll, job costing, and point-of-sale, among many others. Its advanced functionality and easy to use features makes it an ideal choice for companies that have outgrown the limitations of entry-level bookkeeping software such as Intuit QuickBooks(r), or for those who want to migrate from other accounting applications such as Simply Accounting by Sage because they need the broader level of accounting functionality Sage BusinessVision 7.0 offers. The system is not only more comprehensive than entry-level solutions, it's also a great value for growing small businesses that need this type of system, but at an affordable price-the Standard Edition includes all 18 modules, and can support five users for under $5,000 (CDN).

"Sage BusinessVision 7.0 is unique in that it represents an affordable, easy-to-use business management solution for growing small businesses which is a significant step above entry-level accounting applications," said Craig Downing, Sage Software vice president and general manager for Sage Accpac. "Sage BusinessVision 7.0 serves small businesses that have outgrown entry-level accounting, but don't yet require all the features or sophistication of a typical mid-market ERP application, such as Sage Accpac ERP."

Alan Salmon, managing director of Alan Salmon & Associates Inc., a leading authority on accounting software, and vice president, Canadian operations of K2 Enterprises, states that Sage BusinessVision 7.0 "sets a new standard for the small to medium business accounting software market," in his review, "A Brand New BusinessVision!," (http://salmon.ca/MM051505%20BusinessVision.htm).

New, Improved User Interface

Version 7.0 features a new, intuitive user interface that provides instant access to detailed client information. With its new tab view, users can now review various key customer information from multiple locations within the system in one screen. Data entry is faster with a new grid/spreadsheet format, and queries can be exported directly to Microsoft Excel for quick analysis. Also in version 7.0, each user can now retain their own screen customizations within the system, including preferences such as window size, column location and size, and column sorting order. Enhanced search and find capabilities, copying features, and improved data entry functions also increase productivity by allowing users to find and enter data quickly and efficiently.

New Database, Expanded Tables and Fields

Sage BusinessVision 7.0 ships with a new, higher-performance database, so users can now comfortably store much more information on clients with the ability to create and use a much greater number of customized tables and fields, improving the overall capability, functionality, and usefulness of their accounting system. Utilizing this new database engine, the speed and performance of the entire system has been improved, and users will enjoy faster processing of and access to data, above and beyond what entry-level systems can provide.

Key, Core Modules Upgraded

The General Ledger now supports multiple fiscal years, allowing users to post into any period of any of the open years. Additional user-friendly short-cuts and functions have also been created in version 7.0. Inventory Control now tracks period total sales, with several other key upgrades on managing pricing, tracking, and viewing data now available. Order Entry is faster, plus information is now easier to find and view, and many other new processing features and enhancements have been added to further improve overall performance and help increase users' productivity.

New Reporting Enhancements

Sage BusinessVision 7.0 includes Crystal Reports(r) Designer, which permits maintenance of existing forms and reports, and enables users to easily create new forms and reports within their system. Over 50 new reports have been added, including Cash Flow Statement, Financial Statement by Fiscal Period, Financial Statement Summary, Financial Ratios, and Projected Cash Balances. Up to 99 additional custom reports can be added in each reporting category, allowing for thousands of additional reports to be added, and access to each report can be controlled individually by user.

Additional New Features

Version 7.0 includes an enhanced Audit Trail, so most major records now feature record creation and modification dates, as well as the initials of the user who last created/modified the record, providing better insight into who last created or modified key record fields. Hundreds of additional records can now be added to categories in the Control file, such as Terms, Ship Via, and Bills of Materials (BOM). The export feature has also been enhanced in the Sales Analysis and Find functions so that multiple queries can be run and data can be exported directly to a spreadsheet such as Microsoft Excel, allowing users to more easily create and perform their own ad hoc data analysis.

Improved Support for Third-Party Applications

Sage BusinessVision 7.0, with its new database engine, plus improved user interface, allows Sage BusinessVision Development Partners to more easily integrate new add-on applications to further extend the capabilities of the system. Currently, with 30 development partners, Sage BusinessVision serves a wide range of industry-specific and specialty accounting needs.

"Sage BusinessVision version 7 has generated a lot of excitement among our clients and prospects," said Samantha Walker, director of development for Sage Software Business Partner Rowie Walker and Associates, Inc., located in Toronto, Ontario. "The new features in version 7 will increase the competitive edge of our clients. In particular, the enhanced presentation of data and the new query tools will provide immediate productivity gains to all users." Walker adds, "The resources available to Sage BusinessVision Business Partners in preparation for the release have been excellent. We're ready to help our clients succeed with Sage BusinessVision 7.0."
