New Project Tools from TeamDirection Support both Microsoft Office Groove and SharePoint
Latest Offering Gives Project Teams the Choice of Desktop or Browser-Based Participation
BELLEVUE, Wash., Nov. 28 -- TeamDirection Inc, creator of participatory project management software, today announced two new software releases. TeamDirection Project 2007 is the latest version of its desktop software enabling project teams to stay in touch and synchronize their project data using Microsoft(R) Windows(R) SharePoint(R) or Microsoft Office Groove 2007. TeamDirection Project Plus 2007 provides managers with the means to publish their projects to SharePoint or Groove-based task lists. The Plus version also supports two-way synchronization with Mindjet(R) MindManager(R) or Microsoft Project.
SharePoint users may now use either the full-featured TeamDirection desktop application or a browser-based SharePoint task list to view their tasks and report progress. This is a major benefit, according to beta tester Mark Hulderman. "What I like about TeamDirection's Project Plus 2007 is that I can create my projects in Project Plus and share them with SharePoint or Groove team members," he said, continuing, "There is no need to set up and configure the Microsoft Project Server environment to gain the benefits of shared projects."
Cross-firewall team members working in Office Groove 2007 can view and report progress on their tasks from the TeamDirection desktop application or from a Groove task list. Either way, users may access their task lists offline. The data is then synchronized when users reconnect to the network. The ease with which cross-firewall project teams can work together, as well as the offline capability, are major benefits for TeamDirection customers using the Groove solution.
One such customer is VNF, the public ministry responsible for the navigable waterways of France. An early adopter of the Groove platform, they have used TeamDirection Project for Groove Virtual Office since 2004. The new release of TeamDirection Project, will allow them to migrate to Office Groove 2007 in future. The availability of a French version, localized by TeamDirection partner Hommes & Process, was critical to their ability to use the tools effectively, according to VNF Project Manager, M. Xavier Boulanger. "With its choice of Office Groove or SharePoint as the collaborative backbone, this new version will enable many more users," according to Jean-Michel Davault, Managing Director of Hommes & Process.
