Cimatron Releases Application for Design of Progressive Dies

GIVAT SHMUEL, Israel, March 15 // -- Cimatron Limited (NASDAQ: CIMT) announced the availability of
a new application for the design of progressive dies, a task known to be complex and time-consuming, often requiring many iterations to complete.
Cimatron's DieDesign helps die makers produce quality designs in record time, enabling companies that use the application to win more business and carry out more profitable projects.

The new application is rich with die-specific functions, so designers no longer need to spend valuable time attempting to construct the unique features of a die using general-purpose CAD systems. The DieDesign application is tightly integrated with other parts of the CimatronE CAD/CAM product suite, streamlining the entire product cycle from quoting to manufacturing and the delivery of a complete die tool.

"Designing a die can be very complex and tedious," says Danny Haran, Cimatron's president and CEO. "In developing this application, we have worked closely with die makers to provide a solution that addresses their unique needs. Those that started working with the application have been quick to realize the tremendous advantages and time-savings offered by this breakthrough solution."

Says Jay Weiner, Mechanical Engineer and IT Manager at CAM Tool & Die (Ontario, Canada) and one of the first users of the new
application: "Cimatron's new Progressive DieDesign application is highly powerful and flexible, with surfacing capabilities that are second to none.
Being able to work in 3D from start to finish, we expect substantial productivity improvements. Weeks of work may be shortened into days."

Industry analyst firm CIMdata, which reviewed the DieDesign application, described it as "intelligent, parametric, and associative." The CIMdata report goes on to say: "The DieDesign application includes a combination of automation and hands-on control to offer speed, consistency, flexibility, and the ability to reduce trial-and-error iterations."

The DieDesign application is easy and intuitive to use, enabling users to quickly accomplish the task at hand. The application features a set of task-specific toolbars that place the most commonly-used functions at the disposal of the user according to the task performed.

One of the most notable advantages of the new application is the ability to complete the strip design with unprecedented speed and accuracy

o even the most complex strips can be completed in a matter of an hour or two, according to user reports. As a result, die makers are not only able to complete the project quicker, but also quickly assess the cost of the project and generate accurate and professional quotations.

Some of the many die-specific functions offered by CimatronE DieDesign include:

o Powerful geometric tools for bending, unbending, twisting, and other deformation operations

o One of the industry's fastest built-in Finite Element analysis engine for creating blanks

o Integrated Finite Element tools for thinning and safety zone analysis, helping users ensure the validity and quality of the design without leaving the application

o Hybrid environment offering the best advantages of both 2D and 3D capabilities

o Automated nesting for optimal strip layout and material utilization

o Comprehensive die tool design capabilities, including trimming and forming punch creation, catalog parts and configuration templates

o Powerful drafting options, including automated creation of Bill of Materials and Table of Holes

The DieDesign application is part of the CimatronE Version 8 release and is currently available from your local Cimatron office. Visit www.cimatron.com for the nearest Cimatron office and more details on Cimatron's solutions.
