It also supports use of IBM zSeries® Application Assist Processors available on z990 and z890 servers.

Overview
64-Bit SDK for z/OS®, Java(TM) 2 Technology Edition, V1.4 provides a full-function Software Development Kit (SDK) at the Java 2 technology level, compliant with the Sun SDK 1.4 APIs. With 64-bit SDK for z/OS, Java 2 Technology Edition, V1.4, you can:
o Test and deploy Java applications in a 64-bit environment
o Continue the "write once, run anywhere" Java paradigm
o Support use of the IBM zSeries® Application Assist Processors
available on the z990 and z890 servers
o Leverage traditional zSeries benefits: scalability, reliability, availability, and serviceability
The program will be available from the IBM eserver zSeries Java Web
site and on tape from IBM Software Delivery and Fulfillment (SDF).

Planned availability date
Coincident with the general availability of z/OS V1.6, a technical preview of IBM 64-Bit SDK for z/OS, Java 2 Technology Edition, V1.4 will be available from the IBM zSeries Java Web site at http://www.ibm.com/servers/eserver/zseries/software/java
General availability will be December 17, 2004.
