Software delivers remote server management solution.

Press Release Summary:

Used with IPMI (Intelligent Platform Management Interface) v2.0-compliant KVM-over-IP client software, KVM-over-IP remote management technology enables ASMI (Advanced System Management Interface)-compliant Intel servers to be remotely managed from anywhere. Servers can be managed independently of system's status or BIOS state, and virtual media technology includes virtual floppy emulation, CD/DVD drive emulation, and direct mass storage redirection.

Raritan's Peppercon Unveils ASMI-Compatible Remote Management Technology at the Intel Developer Forum

SAN FRANCISCO and ZWICKAU, Germany, Aug. 22 -- Peppercon AG -- a Raritan(R) company and leading vendor of embedded KVM-over-IP solutions -- is demonstrating its advanced KVM-over-IP remote management technology that is compatible with Intel's(R) ASMI (Advanced System Management Interface). Peppercon unveiled the technology at the Intel Developer Forum, being held this week at the Moscone Center West in San Francisco.

The Intel ASMI-compatible remote management technology, together with Peppercon's client software, enables ASMI-compliant Intel servers to be remotely managed from anywhere, creating a complete virtual presence in data centers and server rooms. Servers can be managed independently of a system's status or BIOS state; even servers that are in the "blue screen error" state.

In addition to anytime, anywhere remote management functionality, Peppercon has integrated into the ASMI-compatible KVM-over-IP solution its latest virtual media technology -- which covers a broad range of mass storage emulation versions with best-in-class redirection performance, including virtual floppy emulation, CD/DVD drive emulation and, even, direct mass storage redirection.

Peppercon's IPMI (Intelligent Platform Management Interface) 2.0-compliant KVM-over-IP client software offers centralized and easy-to-use user access to all remote management features, such as KVM-over-IP console redirection, virtual media support, as well as remote power management over IPMI2.0. For cost optimized ASMI-compliant system designs without Intel's embedded IPMI2.0 stack, IPMI2.0 BMC (Baseboard Management Controller) functionality can be added on demand to Peppercon's ASMI-compatible technology.

The Intel ASMI-compatible KVM-over-IP technology helps customers to shorten service and maintenance time by providing complete remote platform control. It also contributes to enterprise IT cost reduction and optimized processes.

"Our OEM customers are now able to build support for improved server management into their systems with the confidence that solutions such as Peppercon's ASMI-based card (Advanced System Management Interface-based card) will complete the solution," said Hemant Dhulla, General Manager of Intel's Manageability and Platform Software Division.

"Intel's ASMI initiative addresses the importance and demand for all kinds of remote management technology into one management framework. The combination of Intel's embedded IPMI2.0 technology together with Peppercon's KVM-over-IP and virtual media technology offers customers a very powerful, modular and flexible way to tailor server platform designs according to their needs. The usage of pre-built and verified remote management building blocks will help Intel customers to shorten server platform design cycles and to reduce the overall design risk, while enabling new server designs with best- in-class remote management technology," says Swen Anderson, CTO of Peppercon.
