IBM Ported Tools for z/OS Version 1 Provides Secure Shell Technology More Commonly Known as OpenSSH on the z/OS Platform


Overview

IBM Ported Tools for z/OS® is an unpriced program product designed to deliver OpenSSH for the z/OS platform. OpenSSH has been modified to operate within the z/OS environment.

OpenSSH provides privacy features through encryption of data that passes through the network. It can also help provide data integrity because it is designed to ensure that data travels over the network unaltered. OpenSSH is designed to provide a secure login and secure file transfer mechanism by making use of SSH protocols and OpenSSL technology. It is intended to allow a non-z/OS server to communicate with a z/OS server using the IETF Secure Shell protocols in a security-rich environment.

Key prerequisites

IBM Ported Tools for z/OS Version 1 requires installation of z/OS V1.4 (5694-A01) or z/OS.e V1.4 (5655-G52) or higher.
