Open Text Releases FirstClass Collaboration Suite 9.0

New Archiving Capabilities Enable Customers to Comply with Regulatory Guidelines for the Storage and Retrieval of E-mail Messages

NATIONAL EDUCATION COMPUTING CONFERENCE, ATLANTA, June 25 / / -- Open Text(TM) Corp. (NASDAQ:OTEX)(NASDAQ:TSX:)(NASDAQ:OTC), the largest independent provider of enterprise content management (ECM) software and solutions, today announced at the National Education Computing Conference (NECC) the release of FirstClass Collaboration Suite 9.0, the latest version of its integrated communications and collaboration software for learning organizations and businesses. This new release provides customers with new and improved features including support for archiving services to address compliance risks, extended mobility support, and feature enhancements in key applications including Mail, Contacts and Calendars.

FirstClass 9.0 offers a powerful set of integrated applications that enable customers to create collaborative online communities that securely connect people and resources via any Internet-accessible device. FirstClass enhances communication within a secure networked environment with applications such as e-mail, instant messaging, calendars, contact management, workgroup collaboration, Web publishing, blogging and now archiving.

According to John Myers, Vice President and General Manager of the FirstClass Division of Open Text, the need for archiving solutions is growing as legal and regulatory mandates require schools and universities to retain e-mail and other important records. Myers and Nate Dhamers of Glenbard Township School District 87 in Illinois recently participated in a podcast (http://www.opentext.com/news/podcasts.html) where they discussed the need for collaboration technology, archiving and Open Text's newest solution in FirstClass 9.0.

"FirstClass 9.0 provides a flexible, highly integrated messaging archiving option that is extremely easy for administrators to deploy," said Myers. "Other enterprise-class messaging systems require expensive third-party add-ons to achieve the same results. By listening closely to our customers we've delivered a wide range of feature enhancements in FirstClass 9.0 that meet the needs of the users within those organizations."

Highlights of the new features for FirstClass 9.0 include:

o FirstClass Archive Services - Developed to address growing legal and
compliance issues, FirstClass Archive Services provide policy-driven
automatic archiving capabilities at the server level. Retention
policies can be specified on a per-group basis and archived messages
can be accessed by the Archive administrator to prevent tampering.

o Unicode Support - Support for Unicode enables FirstClass applications
to include all possible national characters. This includes messages,
document bodies, forms fields and even system data such as names, user
IDs and passwords. Unicode support is also fully integrated into
FirstClass Internet Services for seamless inbound and outbound mail
and Web publishing.

o Application Enhancements - Users can now combine multiple calendars
into one view. Each calendar can be color-coded and easily displayed
or hidden in the combined view. New sorting options have been provided
for Contacts, and Contact addresses can be automatically mapped using
popular Internet-based mapping services.

o Navigation Enhancements - The new InstantSearch feature provides a
powerful tool for quickly filtering all fields displayed in a given
application window. The Launch Bar can now be customized by
administrators and end users.

FirstClass will be showcasing its latest software release at NECC, June 25 through 27, in booth 2146 at the Georgia World Congress Center. More detailed information on this latest release of FirstClass can be found by visiting www.firstclass.com.
