Overview
IBM WebSphere® Business Integration Adapters provide prepackaged connectivity that helps customers integrate disparate industry-specific and cross-industry systems by pulling and uniting information from packaged and custom applications; mainframe systems; technology protocols; databases; and trading partners.
These adapters are built to support open standards. The WebSphere Business Integration Adapters' common framework architecture also allows greater flexibility, adaptability, and speeds time to market.
In addition to introducing new adapters in this release, IBM WebSphere Business Integration Adapter connectivity has been expanded to connect, straight out of the box, to WebSphere Application Server Enterprise V5, in conjunction with WebSphere Studio Application Developer Integration Edition V5.

New Products in this Release
The WebSphere Business Integration Adapter portfolio has been expanded to better support IBM's industry focus. In addition to providing connectivity to support the automotive and electronic industries, this release contains two new adapters to provide connectivity to energy and utility industry-specific applications. New technology adapters, in this release, provide support for healthcare industry standards, such as Health Level Seven (HL7), as well as providing connectivity to IBM iSeries(TM), Lotus® Domino(TM), Exchange, COM, and CORBA. Two new mainframe adapters are also being introduced to provide connectivity to Natural and to IDMS Database. Additionally, many existing adapters have been enhanced. For a complete list of new and enhanced adapters, refer to the Description section.

Planned Availability Dates
June 30, 2003: Electronic for V2.3.0 - IBM WebSphere Business Integration Adapter Framework only
July 31, 2003: Electronic for V2.3.1 - IBM WebSphere Business Integration Adapters, IBM WebSphere Business Integration Adapter Development Kit, and IBM WebSphere Business Integration Adapter Framework. Also, the adapters for Maximo MEA, for iSeries, for CORBA, and for Indus ConnectFramework will only be available electronically.
