SAN FRANCISCO, CA, Nov. 7 /-- Today, at Microsoft's Visual Studio 2005, SQL Server 2005 and BizTalk Server 2006 global launch event, Osellus, a leading software process automation system provider, announced the availability of IRIS 2.5, a new version of the IRIS process authoring system aimed at simplifying the deployment of the Rational Unified Process (RUP) from IBM Corporation using the new Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Team System.

Until now, the enactment, or real-time execution, of RUP processes had to be performed manually. The manual approach is error-prone, resource-intensive, and instills little practitioner acceptance. Many RUP deployments fail as a result.
The new Visual Studio 2005 Team System from Microsoft facilitates process enactment with the use of process templates. Organizations' baseline processes are entered into Visual Studio 2005 Team System in the form of process templates, which can be instantiated across multiple projects in a consistent and predictable manner. If RUP processes could be tailored and imported into Visual Studio 2005 Team System in the form of process templates, Visual Studio 2005 Team System could present an attractive process enactment platform for RUP processes.
IRIS 2.5 offers an automated solution for such a task. With IRIS, RUP processes, whether developed by the Rational Process Workbench or the new Rational Method Composer, can easily be turned into Visual Studio 2005 Team System process templates and enacted across multiple projects. Furthermore, IRIS Process Author offers a comprehensive visual environment for creating tailored versions of organizations' baseline RUP process and creating a separate Visual Studio 2005 Team System template for each process.
The new IRIS 2.5 application preserves all the content and links to such content including those from any installed RUP Plug-in. The generated Visual Studio 2005 Team System process templates include all the necessary Visual Studio 2005 Team System Process Guidance and Work Items that are necessary to accurately reflect the selected RUP process.
