Intermec Offers New Version of RoutePower® Route Distribution Software for Pocket PC 2002

EVERETT, Wash., Sept. 30, 2002 - Intermec Technologies Corp. today unveiled the newest version of its RoutePower(R) route distribution software. RoutePower is a full-featured route accounting application that automates all route activities such as customer order information, delivery invoicing, inventory management and product pricing.

Co-developed by Intermec and Direct Store Delivery (DSD) software development partner MobileTech Solutions, Inc., RoutePower runs on Microsoft(R) Windows for Pocket PC 2002 and is specifically designed for Intermec's 700 Series mobile computers.

Powerful new technology features, such as built-in 802.11b local area network support, allow RoutePower to transmit data wirelessly within a customer's network. In addition, NEXTEL(R) phones can be tethered to the mobile computer enabling sales reps using RoutePower to wirelessly transmit order and customer data over a wide area network.

By providing real-time transmission of order information from the field back to the host computer, some customers report a 70-day return on investment from the addition of three or four customer orders per sales rep each day.

A new RoutePower load-by-bay function permits a route driver to request that product be loaded into specific bays of the delivery vehicle to improve efficiency. RoutePower offers a full service vending capability with enhanced national account capabilities, as well as a National Automated Merchandising Association (NAMA) vending audit, which permits the user to electronically retrieve information from vending machines.

The RoutePower application screens have been upgraded to color with this most recent version. In addition to making RoutePower easier to use, the information that is displayed on the screens are now more legible due to the high contrast displays on Intermec's new 700 Series Color mobile computers.

"Pepsi Bottling Ventures, the latest RoutePower customer, selected MobileTech and Intermec to interface their best of breed hardware and software to provide a consolidated best practices business solution," said John Allen, vice president of MobileTech Solutions. "We interfaced the Intermec handheld computers with Pepsi Bottling Ventures' SAP system via our SQL GateWay(TM) middleware for a smooth transition and training period."
