Overview
Application Monitor for z/OS® V2.1 is a performance analyzer for applications programs. It provides CPU and other resource utilization information for your applications. You can use this information to optimize existing hardware resources and improve the performance of applications and subsystems.
Application Monitor aids the application design, development, and maintenance cycle. It evaluates application prototypes in the design phase, reviews the impact of increased data volume or changes in business requirements on performance, and generates historical data and reports to analyze performance trends and evaluate program changes for cost effectiveness.
Application Monitor for z/OS V2.1 provides sysplex support, new and enhanced support for CICS® and IMS(TM), and other usability enhancements.

One of the following:
IBM OS/390® V2.10, or later (5647-A01)
IBM z/OS V1, or later (5694-A01)
Depending on the function used with IBM Application Monitor, certain levels of other programs may be required. Refer to the Software requirements section for details.

Description
Sysplex support
Application Monitor V2 subsystems will communicate with other Application Monitor subsystems on different LPAR images, through the sysplex coupling facility. Jobs and transactions can be monitored on any LPAR image from any LPAR image in the sysplex. Application Monitor must be active on each LPAR image in the sysplex where monitoring requests are to be issued or monitored objects are executing.
Improved CICS reporting
The improved CICS reporting allows the systems programmer to view the CICS region as an application and find out what transactions are creating all the overhead, while allowing the application programmer to view their specific transaction, and find out what it is doing in the CICS system.
IMS support
Provides you with information that you need for IMS application performance analysis and tuning.
Full job support
Application Monitor now reports on individual steps in a job as well as on the job overall.
Elapsed time and interval reporting
Application Monitor has been enhanced to cover the way data can be described for collection and reported on after collecting.
