Namescape Announces rDirectory 2.0

Active Directory Activated like never before!

PHOENIX, Aug. 1 / / - Namescape Corporation, a leader in composable Identity Management web applications for Active Directory, announces the general availability of rDirectory Version 2.0. rDirectory combines a designer mode with application templates to allow users to quickly deploy custom, secure solutions that leverage their existing Active Directory database; solutions to lower costs, secure processes, delegate IT tasks, keep organizational information accurate and publish information securely throughout the enterprise.

With this latest release, rDirectory has added new application templates and features to expand its versatility, a new themeable user interface, and an upgraded designer to make it even simpler to compose custom solutions. Namescape also announces the general availability of the Provisioning Agent for Microsoft Exchange which enables delegating the creation of mail-enabled accounts to non IT staff such as HR or Help Desks.

rDirectory extends the value of Active Directory, the database at the heart of all Windows networks which contains information about all users, groups, and computers across the enterprise. Active Directory is extensible and was designed to be a multi-purpose platform; however, to take advantage of this platform organizations have traditionally had to hand code custom applications. As a result, Active Directory remains a largely underutilized resource. Namescape designed rDirectory to bridge this gap with a rapid development model that requires no programming that also provides the flexibility required to develop rich custom solutions.

"Namescape has really thought of everything with this version of rDirectory. I'm extremely pleased with all the features, they haven't left anything out," said Alan Coleman of St Joseph's Villa. "This is really the perfect system; it does everything we need and more. It's a self-editable staff directory, a template driven account creation tool for managers, a way for users to create and self-subscribe to email lists, a self-service password reset utility, a printer directory, and a valuable tool for any help desk or support center. This, combined with the excellent reporting and emailing features, makes rDirectory one of the most versatile network tools you could ever have."

rDirectory comes preconfigured with common employee directory and group applications, so it can be deployed and used immediately. Then, using the tutorials and on-line help, users can quickly create the custom solutions they need today. Best of all, as changes and new applications, they can be deployed in minutes not months.

"As customers begin to realize the synergy of combining rDirectory with Active Directory, a phenomenon occurs which we've come to call the 'Popcorn Effect'. Ideas start popping up on new ways they can now solve lingering issues. When you simplify the development of custom solutions for a platform already in place, amazing results occur quickly," said Randy Bradley, President of Namescape. "In this release we have greatly expanded the versatility of rDirectory, at the same time we have also made it simpler to use, and easier to learn."

"I was impressed with how easy it was to customize rDirectory with the previous version but somehow they managed to improve it even more!" said Teresa Casey of Rockline Industries. Coleman agreed, adding, "rDirectory's design mode is extremely easy to learn and use but powerful enough to do anything you can imagine. It leverages the flexibility of Active Directory more than any product I've ever seen."
