Original Press Release:

Mercmaster G3 Achieves Industry's First NEC-501 "T3" Rating for 100W High Pressure Sodium Lighting Fixture

ROSEMONT, IL, MAY 24, 2005 - Continuing to break new ground in hazardous location electrical engineering, Appleton today introduced its Mercmaster G3 Series lighting fixture, the first 100-watt HPS explosion-proof lighting fixture to achieve a NEC-501 "T3" temperature rating (181-200 degrees Celsius).

The cool running fixture is engineered for Class 1, Div. 2 hazardous locations requiring a low operating temperature, and is especially effective in refineries, petrochemical facilities and heavy process industries where a T3 maximum temperature rating is mandated. Its higher wattage provides for greater flexibility in lighting system design because fewer luminaries may be needed. It also translates into lower installation and maintenance costs, with reduced downtime and less replacement lamps and parts.

Designed for abusive industrial environments, the Mercmaster G3 elevates the standard for durable engineering with its cast copper-free aluminum construction protected by a corrosion-resistant epoxy coat finish; stainless steel external screws, inserts, swing bolt and nut; white finished metal inner reflector for improved heat dissipation; tubular silicone rubber optic gasket to assure reliable environmental sealing; and safety high hinge for extra protection.

The Mercmaster G3 is available in a variety of mounting styles, hoods, ballast bodies, globes, reflectors, and heat-resistant refractors. For more information, call 800-621-1506. Online at www.appletonelec.com. E-mail: literature@egseg.com.
