New Sludge Density Meter Performs Reliably in Harsh Conditions
A new sludge density meter, specially designed to monitor suspended solids in harsh conditions, has been introduced by Solartron Mobrey of Houston, Texas.
Initially engineered for use in highly caustic, high-temperature bauxite mud environments, the MSM400 consists of a microprocessor-based control unit and a pair of ultrasonic sensors. Density is measured by monitoring the attenuation in an ultrasonic signal transmitted through sludge.
With a wide range of built-in options (including display, control, alarm and communications), the MSM400 is easily programmable to suit local conditions and comes complete with an assortment of factory-set calibrations for speedy set-up. Measurement accuracy is ±0.5% in slurries from 10 to 50% suspended solids.
Control features for the MSM400 include two programmable relays for direct control of discharge equipment and a standard 4-20mA output with digital HART communications. User-programmable alarms can be configured to warn of power failure, no flow or sensor problems.
