Tyco Electronics Slide Switches are Compact, Reliable and Environmentally Sealed
HARRISBURG, Pa., February 26 - Tyco Electronics today introduced a new line of compact slide switches. The ALCOSWITCH brand slide switches are available in SMT or thru-hole versions. Additionally, the switches can be ordered unsealed or with an IP67 environmental sealing rating. The compact size is accentuated by double pole capability in a single pole body. These switches can be used in applications from point-of-sale terminals to building controls and have additional use in microphones, industrial controls, and medical equipment.
ALCOSWITCH slide switches employ PC board retention features and a robust actuator for reliable, repeatable mechanical performance up to 10,000 cycles. The high reliability contact system has a break-before-make design.
The contacts in ALCOSWITCH slide switches are rated for 0.4 VA at 20 VDC with an initial contact resistance of less than 50 miliohms. Actuation force ranges from 70 to 500 grams. The contacts are phosphor bronze with gold over nickel plating. Terminals are tin-lead over nickel-plated phosphor bronze. Housing, actuator, and plunger are UL94V-0 glass-filled thermoplastic.
A surface mount, sealed slide switch is priced at $1.57 at the 10,000 piece quantity level. Delivery is 8- 10 weeks.
