Genderless Single-Pole Connectors Cater to Power Applications
HARRISBURG, Pa., April 8, 2004 - Tyco Electronics, a business segment of Tyco International, Ltd., today released three new connector products for single-pole power applications. The AMP Power Series 15, 30, and 45 connectors are single-pole connectors with vertical and horizontal stacking capability. These connectors have robust housings and a durable contact system. AMP Power Series 15, 30, and 45 connectors share a common, genderless housing design. Separate contacts for 15, 30 or 45 amps are employed to accommodate an appropriate power rating. These connectors are well-suited for power supplies, material handling equipment, electric vehicles, communications equipment, electric wheelchairs and office furniture partitions.
Maximum current rating is achieved with the 45-amp contact and 10AWG wire. All contacts are rated for 600 V AC/DC.
The connector uses an impact resistant, color-coded, UL 94V-0 polycarbonate housing. Colors include blue, black, white, green, red, yellow, orange and gray. Contacts are silver plated copper offering low resistance and superior conductivity. Designers can select from individual cold-headed contacts or a contact kitted with a housing. The contacts are suitable for up to 10,000 mating cycles and the mating action minimizes arcing by scraping corrosion from mating surfaces after each mating cycle. Vertical or horizontal stacking is accomplished by locking members that slide into place.
Pricing for the AMP Power Series 45 connector, based on 10,000 pieces, is $0.16 each for housings, and $0.06 each for contacts. Delivery is typically 8-10 weeks.
