Single-Pole Power Connectors Carry Up to 75 Amps
HARRISBURG, Pa., December 4-AMP Power Series 75 connectors are now available from Tyco Electronics. The new connector is rated for 600-volts (AC and DC) and 75-amps in a single-pole housing when connected to a six AWG wire. Two configurations of these housings are available; a standard (non-locking version) and the locking version. These modular housings can be interlocked horizontally and vertically to create stacked versions. A retaining pin is offered to lock the standard housings together.
AMP power connectors employ a genderless mating design which allows a mated pair to be assembled with two identical mating halves. This helps manufacturers reduce inventory expenses since only one style of connector housings and contacts is necessary. Once mated, the connectors provide excellent vibration resistance. These rugged connectors are rated for up to 10,000 mating cycles and can be used in demanding applications such as, electric vehicles, material handling equipment, industrial trucks & forklifts, power supplies, office furniture and communications equipment.
The connectors employ an impact resistant, UL 94V-0 polycarbonate housing in numerous colors. This allows multi-pole configurations with visual color-coding to match wires.
Contacts are silver plated copper offering low resistance and superior conductivity. Designers can select from a cold-headed contact, available on tape or loose piece. The contacts feature a self-cleaning design which minimizes arcing by scraping corrosion from mating surfaces after each mating cycle. AMP power connectors accept 6 to 12 AWG wire. Automated termination machines can be used to apply the on-tape contacts to wire.
Accessories for this product include: mounting clamp sets (for 2/4 and 3/6 pole configurations), mounting wings, retaining pins and reducing bushings (used to accommodate smaller wire sizes).
Pricing for the housings, cold-headed contacts and stamped & formed contacts based on 10,000 pieces is $.44/each, $.33/each and $.25/each respectively.
