Two New Families of Schaffner EMC Single-Phase Filters Offer Increased Attenuation Performance

EDISON, N.J., June 2006 -- Schaffner EMC, a leading provider of EMI/RFI components, today announced it has upgraded its current FN 2000 single-phase filter series with two new families of products. The FN 2030 general-purpose EMI filters and the FN 2090 multi-stage EMI filters are RoHS compliant and were developed for applications requiring higher filter performance.

The FN 2030 outperforms Schaffner's existing single-stage EMI filters, the FN 2010 and FN 2020, and has an excellent cost-performance ratio. Its uses include consumer goods, household equipment, medical systems, electronic data processing equipment and electrical equipment applications requiring only a single-stage EMI filter.

More severe or complex EMI issues can be resolved with the FN 2090 dual-stage filter. Even though it is priced between the existing FN 2060 and FN 2070, its performance surpasses them both. Typical applications for the FN 2090 include building automation, plant automation, industrial applications, machinery, consumer goods, and household equipment.

The new filters use a highly permeable magnetic core to achieve higher inductivity and performance. The FN 2030 and FN 2090 offer optional medical and safety versions, optional surge pulse protection and various terminal options for the selection of connection style. The filters' nickel-plated housing is the same as is used in other models in the FN 2000 series for fast and easy chassis mounting.

Both families of filters have a maximum continuous operating voltage of 250 VAC, 50/60v Hz, an operating frequency of dc to 400 Hz, and rated currents of one to 20A at 40°C (104°F) max. The temperature range for the filters is -25°C (-13°F) to +100°C (212°F).

Additional information, dimensions, diagrams and filter selection tables for each new family in the FN 2000 series is available. Custom specific versions are also available.

Pricing is $11.08 in quantities of 100 pieces for the FN 2030 and $15.29 in quantities of 100 pieces for the FN 2090. Delivery is four to six weeks ARO.
