PCM-9578: All-around Flexibility

Irvine, CA, 31 January, 2003 - Advantech's new PCM-9578 is a Socket 370 SBC designed with customer needs in mind. With the ability to accept Celeron(TM) or Pentium® III/ 512K processors up to 1.26GHz, and supply 3 or 4 10/100 Mbps Ethernet ports, the PCM-9578 is right at home in any network environment. The PCM-9578 can be used as a triple Ethernet firewall/DMZ device or a four Ethernet port device that allows centralized management of a Secure Virtual Network, including firewall security and VPNs or PCI add-on cards for encryption acceleration. Applied in any network environment or in a stand-alone chassis supplied by Advantech, the PCM-9578 has the processing power and reliability to handle your mission critical, high availability applications.

Compact, yet Powerful
The PCM-9578 is of course a powerful, compact, full featured (5.75" x 8") SBC that can be used in a multitude of embedded applications. However, certain features make it especially attractive for network administration. An optional LAN3, LAN4 bypass function makes sure customer network connections are maintained even in the unlikely event of board failure. VGA/LCD is unnecessary for many network applications. With the available COM port, administrators can simply connect a PC (console) for configuration. Scalable Ethernet lets users pay only for the Ethernet capacity they need. Order triple or quadruple Intel® 10/100 Mbps 82559ER controllers. And the LAN3-LAN4 redirection function is managed via the aforementioned serial port-connected PC console. The PCM-9578 offers GPIO support with 8-bit general-purpose, programmable Input/Output control.

Cool Options
The PCM-9578 sports three fan connectors-one for the CPU fan, and two for system fans. And there is a fan status LED connector as well; if any fan fails, the LED lights up.

Features
o Supports Pentium® III(Tualatin) /Celeron(TM) processors up to 1.26GHz
o Supplies scalable ethernet, 3 or 4 10/100 Mbps ports
o Optional LAN3-LAN4 bypass function
o Supports redirection function to control console via serial port
