Momentum Computer Announces Industry-First Dual Pentium M-Based Single Board Computer for PICMG 2.16

CCR-200 Doubles Compute Density in a Single Slot of PICMG 2.16 Backplane

CHELMSFORD, Mass. -- April 22, 2005 -- Momentum Computer, Inc., a subsidiary of Mercury Computer Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: MRCY), introduced the CCR-200, its new dual Intel® Pentium® M-based PICMG 2.16 6U single board computer. The CCR-200 consists of two loosely coupled compute nodes interconnected by Gigabit Ethernet. Each node is populated with an Intel Pentium M processor that can run at speeds of up to 2.0 GHz, with up 2 GB of memory. The CCR-200 doubles the compute density currently available in a single slot of a PICMG 2.16 packet switch backplane.

An extension of the PICMG 2.x family of specifications, the PICMG 2.16 employs an Ethernet-based packet switch architecture on the CompactPCI platform. The combination provides a reliable, robust computing environment for high availability and next-generation network applications in embedded computing.

"The CCR-200 is the latest example of Momentum's industry leadership in bringing innovative products to market," said Harry White, president of Momentum Computer. "Leveraging the power of the Intel Pentium M processor and the architectural scalability of PICMG 2.16, the CCR-200 is a testament to our team's vast knowledge and experience in embedded computing applications, which enable us to rapidly respond to customer requirements with creative and cost-effective solutions."

In addition to the Intel Pentium M processor, each CCR-200 compute node consists of an Intel 855GME memory controller, an Intel 6300ESB I/O Controller Hub (ICH), two Gigabit Ethernet ports and front-panel USB, serial port (x2) and VGA connectors. Two Broadcom® BCM5384 single-chip, four-port gigabit switches are used to provide a non-blocking, redundant interconnect between the two nodes and the PICMG 2.16 backplane fabric via the J3 connector.

The CCR-200 also provides a single 32/64-bit 33/66 MHz PCI/PCI-X PMC site and a Type I/II CompactFlash® socket accessible from the front panel. A set of mating Rear Transition Modules (RTMs) from Momentum Computer allows the board to be configured to meet a wide variety of I/O requirements.

The new CCR-200 is available now from stock for small quantities, and with delivery times of six to eight weeks for production quantities. Pricing for the CCR-200 starts at under US$6,000, with volume discounts available.
