DTI Introduces Low Cost Mobile Intel Pentium 4-Based PICMG 2.16-Compliant CompactPCI PSB Compute Blade
New PlexSys cPB-4305 SBC optimized for Ethernet Packet Switched Backplane Platforms
RIDGELAND, MS - January 13, 2003 - Diversified Technology, Inc. announced today an addition to its line of PICMG®; 2.16 compliant products targeted at OEMs developing high performance products for carrier-grade Telecom and Internet IP-based markets such as VPN switchers, media gateways, 2.5G/3G wireless, server clusters, IP DSLAM and voice/video/data servers. The low cost cPB-4305 is optimized for use as a system master or peripheral processor in Ethernet PSB CompactPCI®; platforms.

About the cPB-4305
The cPB-4305 comes with a low power, 1.2GHz Mobile Intel®; Pentium®; 4 processor - M with 512KB L2 cache, 845E chipset with 400MHz front side bus, and from 256MB to 2GB ECC DDR200/266 SDRAM memory configurations (2GB achieved with 512MB addressing). Onboard are two 10/100/1000Mbits/sec Ethernet auto-negotiating controllers, Ultra DMA/100 IDE 2.5" hard drive or 32-bit/33MHz PMC site, PS/2 keyboard and mouse interfaces, Universal Serial Bus (USB) and serial ports, floppy interface and a SVGA CRT controller. The 16MB of StrataFlash®; supports the field-upgradeable BIOS, and may store a bootable operating system image; an optional IDE-compatible CompactFlash carrier card is available in lieu of the hard drive.
The board, optimized for the Ethernet Packet Switched Backplane architecture, forsakes a CompactPCI bridge to reduce cost and may be used as a system master or peripheral processor blade in 2.16-compliant platforms. The cPB-4305 will not run with or interconnect with other devices on the CompactPCI bus; it will not terminate the PCI bus.
Part of DTI's PlexSys family of PSB products, the cPB-4305 is validated with DTI's cPS-4081 4U general purpose, carrier grade computing platform with cSB-4240 Ethernet level 2/3 switch. The IPMI 1.5-compliant Baseboard Management Controller (BMC), when used with the cCM-3402 chassis management module supports a comprehensive, protected lights-out management scheme. Also included is ATA/100 application software for shorter boot times and faster I/O rates, and a programmable two-stage watchdog timer for enhanced system reliability and a 2-year limited warranty.
Low cost, the cPB-4305 system/peripheral processor blade is an economical choice for application developers addressing high performance, converging Telecom and Internet IP-based markets such as VPN switchers, media gateways, 2.5G/3G wireless, server clusters, IP DSLAM and voice/video/data servers.
Pricing and Availability
OEM pricing for the cPB-4305 processor blade, excluding memory, starts at $1295 with a 1.2GHz Pentium 4-M processor for either the HD/CompactFlash site or the PMC site version. Shipments begin in February.
