Diversified Technology, Inc. Introduces New PICMG 2.16 Intel Pentium M Blade To Power Expanding IP Market

DTI's cPB-4614 Single Board Computer delivers high performance processing for NEMS and TEMS next generation platforms.

RIDGELAND, MS - January 19, 2004 - Diversified Technology, Inc. announced today the release of the cPB-4614 Pentium® M CompactPCI Blade expanding its line of PICMG® 2.16 products targeted at OEMs developing high performance IP based solutions. The cPB-4614 is compliant with the PICMG® 2.16 standard and optimizes system bandwidth featuring a 400Mhz Front Side Bus (FSB) with high speed DDR-333 memory for use in Packet Switched Backplane platforms.

"DTI has positioned the cPB-4614 product to assist solution providers in the migration from circuit switched to IP networks," commented Mike Dempsey, DTI's CTO. "With the anticipated growth of the server blade market, the cBP-4614 blade utilizing the Intel® Pentium® M processor satisfies high-end, processor performance requirements while maintaining low power consumption."

About the cPB-4614

The cPB-4614 supports Intel®'s Pentium® M Processor family utilizing the 855PM chipset with a 400MHz front side bus. A memory array based on a pair of SO-DIMM sockets supports from 256MB to 2GB with ECC protection. PC-1600, PC-2100, and PC-2700 memory speeds are all supported. Onboard are one 10/100/1000Mbps Ethernet port, one 10/100Mbps Ethernet port, a MiniIDE flash drive site, 32-bit/33MHz PMC site, PS/2 keyboard and mouse interfaces, Universal Serial Bus (USB) 2.0 connections, RS-232 serial ports, a parallel port, and a floppy interface.

Front panel connections include one USB 2.0 port and an RS-232 serial port. Other connections are available through an optional rear transition module. The RS-232 port is switchable between the front panel and rear transition module. Front panel indicators include Ethernet speed, link, and activity for each port and a hot swap LED.

Board management is supported via a PICMG® 2.9 compliant IPMI based satellite controller. When used in DTI's PlexSys line of CompactPCI chassis, the health and status of the cPB-4614 is monitored via the system management controller. Monitored points include processor and board temperature, critical voltages, hot swap status, power fault status, and FRU information. This functionality is availability in any CompactPCI system with a system management device acting as an IPMI compliant BMC.

The cPB-4614 is intended for use in CompactPCI system slots. A drone version is available which can be used in any slot but has no connectivity to the PCI portion of the CompactPCI backplane. The cPB-4614 is hot swap capable. Board health on insertion is monitored and a fault condition will be indicated if the board fails to boot.

Part of DTI's PlexSys Family of PSB products, the cPB-4614 processor blade is validated with DTI's CompactPCI family of platforms and switch cards. Also included is ATA/100 application software for shorter boot times and faster I/O rates, and a programmable two-stage watchdog timer for enhanced system reliability. A 2-year limited warranty is standard.

Diversified Technology's cPB-4614 system processor blade is the economical choice for application developers addressing high performance, converging Telecom and Internet IP-based markets such as VPN switchers, media gateways, 2.5G/3G wireless, server clusters, IP DSLAM and voice/video/data servers.
