New ConnectBus® Computer for Embedded PC Applications



Santa Fe Springs, July 19, 2002: Densitron announces the launch of its latest ConnectBus® single board computer, the DPX-91. Designed for embedded PC applications requiring easy serviceability and minimal downtime, the DPX-91 is the latest member of the ConnectBus® family, and breaks new ground offering a high level of CPU and 3-D graphics performance plus integrated DVD/MPEG2 playback in an industrial single board Computer.

The DPX-91 is the fourth generation product to implement the ConnectBus® interface standard for field-serviceable embedded PCs. ConnectBus® has become the new standard for field-serviceable embedded PCs in the ATM, gaming, vending and information kiosk markets, and offers an unprecedented level of simplicity, integration and security. With the ConnectBus® interface, single board computers (SBCs) can be installed and replaced in a single operation. With only one connector to worry about, a technician can remove the unit and replace it with a new or upgraded unit so that downtime and lost revenue are minimized.

Based on the Intel Socket 370, the DPX-91 will accept Pentium® III CPUs up to 1GHz with 133MHz FSB (front side bus).

The DPX-91's unique design includes:

- SiS630/300 high performance graphics controller with 128-bit 3-D pipeline, Direct3D(TM) and OpenGL® acceleration MPEG2/DVD playback

- Video memory up to 64MB

- SRAM includes 256KB battery backed with two independent banks of 128KB each, paged in standard address space

- ROM socket supports up to 2MB PLCC EPROM. 2 PLCC sockets with bootable ROM

- LCD/CRT graphics controller with digital DVI/PanelLink(TM) interface

- 1 GB MB RAM (two DIMM sockets)

- 100Base-Tx/10Base-T Ethernet controller

- 16-bit 3-D stereo sound system with amplified outputs (2W/channel)

- Two USB, I2C, two parallel, four serial (RS232/422/485/lrDA options), MIDI, mouse, keyboard,

- Watchdog timer, CPU temp., fan speed and intrusion monitoring

- Expansion for ConnectBus®, and PC/104-Plus buses

- Security encription circuit

The DPX-91 is backwards compatible with Densitron's DPX-80 and DPX-81 ConnectBus® motherboards, field-proven single board computers with an installed base of over 10,000 units in the video gaming industry.
