SiliconSystems and Samtec Collaborate to Deliver New Ultra-Small, High Performance Embedded Storage Solution

SiliconSystems' Advanced Storage Technology Combined with Samtec's Innovative Socket Design Provides OEMs with Alternative to SD and MMC Cards

ALISO VIEJO, Calif., April 8, 2008 - SiliconSystems, Inc., a world leader in advanced storage technology, and Samtec, a worldwide manufacturer of PC board-level interconnects, today announced that the two companies have collaborated to provide OEM system designers with a turnkey solution for their embedded storage application needs by announcing the new SiliconDrive II USB Blade and associated SiliconBlade Socket. The combination of the innovative storage technology in the SiliconDrive II USB Blade and the SiliconBlade Socket enables OEMs to easily incorporate advanced storage technology into space-constrained embedded system designs. SiliconDrive II USB Blade is an ultra-small form factor that combines integrated advanced storage technologies with the robustness and locking mechanism of the SiliconBlade Socket. SiliconDrive II USB Blade is an ideal alternative to SD and MMC cards in netcom, embedded, industrial, military and medical applications.

"Demand for advanced solid-state storage technology is rapidly increasing among embedded system OEMs that are developing products where high performance, high reliability, and multi-year product lifecycles are required," said Gary Drossel, vice president of product planning at SiliconSystems. "By collaborating with Samtec to develop a robust locking interconnect for our new SiliconDrive II USB Blade, we are able to offer OEM designers a turnkey solution that speeds time to market and exceeds their storage system requirements."

"Samtec is extremely pleased to have collaborated with SiliconSystems to develop the new SiliconBlade Socket," said David Givens, development manager at Samtec. "This partnership affords Samtec an opportunity to expand its presence in the embedded systems OEM market and we are very excited about the market potential for this revolutionary new storage solution."

SiliconDrive II USB Blade, and its associated host developer toolkit, is available now directly from SiliconSystems or SiliconSystems' global distribution and sales channel partners in capacities of 512 megabytes (MB), 1 gigabyte (GB) and 2 GB. The SiliconBlade Socket is available now directly from Samtec or its global distribution and sales channel partners.
