Sierra Wireless Product Portfolio Now Windows Vista Ready

Current Sierra Wireless AirCard® and embedded module products support Windows Vista with Windows Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL) signed drivers

VANCOUVER, Feb. 6 - Sierra Wireless (NASDAQ:SWIR)(NASDAQ:- TSX:)(NASDAQ:SW) today announced it has validated its current PC Card and embedded module product portfolio on Windows Vista. Windows Vista WHQL signed drivers are ready for all current Sierra Wireless EV-DO and HSDPA products, including the AirCard® 595, AirCard 580, AirCard 875, AirCard 850, AirCard 860, and AirCard 775 PC cards, as well as the MC5720, MC5725, MC8775, MC8765, MC8755, and EM5625 embedded modules. In addition, all future Sierra Wireless products, including the company's upcoming ExpressCard and USB modems, will ship as Windows Vista Ready.

Validation from Microsoft's Windows Hardware Quality Labs is achieved through a series of rigorous tests designed to ensure the compatibility and reliability of devices interacting with the Windows operating system. The program is designed to assist consumers in identifying quality products that are easy to install and operate without interfering with other components in the system.

"The performance of a wireless device is affected by many things, including its hardware design, the way it interacts with the network, and the way it interacts with its host computer," said Jim Kirkpatrick, chief technology officer for Sierra Wireless. "Our collaboration with Microsoft to ensure that our product portfolio is Windows Vista Ready is a crucial part of our ongoing effort to ensure that we can deliver the latest technology without compromising our commitment to provide the best, most reliable user experience possible for our customers."

"Windows Vista offers significant improvements for how people can work together from remote locations, recognizing that wireless connectivity has become increasingly accessible and important," said Hong Liu, program manager of wireless wide area networking for Microsoft Corp. "We are pleased to collaborate with Sierra Wireless to ensure our customers can choose a tested, reliable wireless connectivity solution that will help them take advantage of all that Windows Vista has to offer mobile users."
