Sierra Wireless Embedded Modules Available in New Fujitsu Notebook Launched in Japan


First AirCard Enabled(TM) notebook available in Japan offers integrated mobile broadband access to NTT DoCoMo network

VANCOUVER, Nov. 6 - Sierra Wireless (NASDAQ:SWIR)(NASDAQ:- TSX:)(NASDAQ:SW) today announced that a Fujitsu notebook computer to be AirCard Enabled(TM) with Sierra Wireless embedded modules is now certified and available for use on the NTT DoCoMo network in Japan. With the integrated Sierra Wireless MC8780 embedded module, the new FMV-BIBLO LOOX T70XNX notebook offers the latest in mobile broadband network technology to keep customers connected to the information they need from wherever their travels take them.

This is the first AirCard Enabled(TM) notebook computer to be offered in Japan, and its availability coincides with the commercial launch of NTT DoCoMo's new HSDPA "Flat-Rate Data Plan HIGH-SPEED", which allows customers to purchase data service at a single monthly rate.

The Sierra Wireless MC8780 embedded module offers tri-band UMTS/HSPA and quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE network access to enable roaming on mobile broadband networks worldwide. Operating on the NTT DoCoMo HSDPA network, Fujitsu notebooks with the integrated MC8780 embedded module are capable of peak download speeds up to 3.6 Mbps (Megabits per second) and upload speeds up to 384 kbps.

Designed for integration into notebook computers, fixed wireless terminals, and other devices requiring high-speed wireless data connectivity, Sierra Wireless PCI Express Mini Card embedded modules for HSPA networks are fully shielded and offer an operating temperature range of -30 to +60 degrees Celsius to suit all applications. The MC8780 also offers Receive Diversity.

Sierra Wireless PCI Express Mini Card modules include a common comprehensive WHQL-certified USB software driver architecture that provides superior power management, a dedicated diagnostic channel and the ability to enable or disable NDIS or DUN support, providing maximum flexibility to OEM customers when designing their wireless product. To simplify and expedite product development cycles, Sierra Wireless also provides OEM customers with a comprehensive software development kit (SDK) or Sierra Wireless's own Watcher(TM) software for easy connection management. OEM customers can rely on Sierra Wireless to deliver a suite of PCI Express Mini Card products along with best-in-class technical and integration support, so end customers experience the same reliable, robust AirCard Enabled(TM) data solution users have come to expect from the AirCard® line of adapter products.
