Sierra Wireless Demonstrates Embedded EV-DO Revision A Capabilities

MC5725 PCI Express Mini Card embedded module offers connection to new, faster EV-DO network technology

LAS VEGAS, NV, April 5 / / -- Sierra Wireless (NASDAQ:SWIR)(NASDAQ:-)(NASDAQ:TSX:)(NASDAQ:SW) is demonstrating embedded EV-DO Revision A solutions at CTIA Wireless 2006, held at the Las Vegas Convention Center April 5-7. The private technical demonstration utilizes an HP Compaq notebook computer with an MC5725 PCI Express Mini Card embedded module, which has been integrated by Sierra Wireless and HP specifically for the demonstration.

"EV-DO Revision A represents a significant step forward in CDMA technology and will offer mobile professionals the ability to send information over their wireless connection far more efficiently," said Trent Punnett, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Corporate Development for Sierra Wireless. "We are pleased to work with HP to demonstrate the technology's potential to customers."

EV-DO Revision A is an upgrade to current EV-DO networks that supports faster data rates and increased system capacity, offering theoretical peak data rates of 3.1 Mbps on the downlink and up to 1.8 Mbps on the uplink. The faster data rates, particularly on the uplink, will improve the user experience for those who need to send large files such as presentations, photos or graphics to colleagues over their wireless data connection.

Designed to provide an integrated EV-DO Revision A connection for AirCard Enabled(TM) notebook computers and other mobile computing devices, the MC5725 is the newest embedded module from Sierra Wireless, which has more than 10 years' experience working with original equipment manufacturers to provide built-in wireless wide area network connectivity for a variety of devices and applications. The MC5725 will be backward compatible to provide seamless connections to current EV-DO and CDMA 1X networks, for use in areas where an EV-DO Revision A network is not yet available.

The demonstration is located in the Nortel booth (No. 1835).
