Siemens Selects Spirent® Communications' SwissQual as the Standard for New Wireless Service Assurance Offering

SwissQual's QualiPoc Systems Assure High-Quality Wireless Network Deployments and Operation

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--Spirent Communications (NYSE:SPM)(LSE:SPT), a global provider of performance analysis and service management solutions, today announced that Siemens Networks, one of the world's largest telecommunications vendors, has chosen SwissQual's QualiPoc system to monitor network performance. Siemens Networks offers a wide range of professional services such as monitoring and benchmarking of mobile network performance vendor independently. SwissQual's system provides a powerful and economical drive test solution that will serve as the foundation for Siemens' new network quality testing and benchmark service.

SwissQual's system unites the cost effectiveness of unattended operation with the power of fully automatic network analysis. The QualiPoc system is a market-leading solution that monitors and benchmarks the deployment of quality services. It runs on industry-standard smart phones and supports voice, data, browsing, messaging and video testing. By collecting actual network performance data from the field and doing active QoS tests, QualiPoc produces the real subscriber feedback based on Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) to identify service degradations, troubleshoot them, and allow Services Providers to develop strategies for network and service optimization for best possible performance.

"Wireless subscribers expect high-quality networks from the very first day of operation," said Godfrey Chua, Research Manager, Wireless and Mobile Infrastructure Group at IDC. "Therefore, network operators must be certain that they get it right the first time by providing superior service to attract new customers and to protect against subscriber churn."

With SwissQual systems, Siemens will be able to conduct real-time data collection, network quality assessment and analysis to enable the deployment of quality wireless services.

"Our new wireless test capability is an integral part of our turnkey projects and managed services contracts with wireless service providers," said Stefan Bischof, Director Network Optimization Services. "We selected SwissQual's systems as part of our strategic entry into the wireless service assurance business because they are high-quality, efficient solutions to monitor network service quality."

"The agreement with Siemens Networks reinforces the important role testing plays in network deployments and operation," said Tomas Ahnebrink, vice president of SwissQual, which was acquired by Spirent Communications in January 2006. "Network operators want to be sure their systems provide high quality service at initial deployment. By using SwissQual solutions, Siemens will help operators deploy and manage their networks with confidence."
