Shut-Off Valve prevents damage to fluid handling pumps.

Press Release Summary:

Low-level shut-off valve stops pneumatic fluid handling pump when material in bucket or other container reaches pre-determined level. This prevents damage to pump assemblies where no fluid is traveling through lines. Product mounts to drum cover inside fluid container and has lever connected by chain to flexible follower plate inside container. Valve is suited for chemical, heavy industrial, off-road, and automotive garage equipment applications.

New Alemite Shut-Off Valve Prevents Damage to Fluid Handling Pumps

Fort Mill, S.C. - Alemite has introduced a new low-level shut-off valve, a small device that will shut off a pneumatic fluid handling pump when the material in the bucket or other container reaches a pre-determined level. This can prevent damage to pump assemblies due to runaway situations, in which no fluid is traveling through the lines.

The design and function are simple. The valve is mounted to the drum cover inside a fluid container. A lever on the valve is then connected to the flexible follower plate inside the container with a chain. The follower plate rides atop the material in the container and drops as the level in the container lowers. When the follower plate reaches a given point, determined by the length of the chain, the valve is tripped and air flow to the pump is suspended, halting operations.

"This product is designed to prevent costly damage to fluid handling pump systems," Rex Burgner, product manager for garage equipment at Alemite, explains. "It reduces unplanned downtime and helps managers maintain productivity in industrial and garage applications."

The new low-level shut-off valve uses a high-flow design, making it ideal for almost any size pneumatic pump that incorporates a flexible follower plate. This includes pumps for almost any viscous fluid, such as grease or other chemicals. In addition, a universal design allows it to easily be installed on pump systems in many different settings, including chemical, heavy industrial, off-road and automotive garage equipment.
