Original Press Release:

Gore-Tex GR® Sheet Gasketing: A Creep-Resistant PTFE Product

Elkton, Md., November 29, 2002 - GORE-TEX GR® sheet gasketing from W. L. Gore & Associates, Inc. is a versatile gasketing product that provides a tight seal in wide-ranging operating conditions. The product is made of 100% PTFE that is expanded in multiple directions. This process greatly reduces the effects of creep relaxation after compression. Compatible with all chemicals in the 0-14 pH range (except for elemental fluorine and molten alkali metals), it provides a tight seal in operating temperatures to 600°F (315°C), and effectively controls emissions.

Once GORE-TEX GR® sheet gasketing is installed and torqued properly, there is usually no need for retorquing. The conformable nature of this gasketing material, plus the low stress required to seal, make it ideal for sealing irregular or damaged flanges, as well as fragile or lightly loaded assemblies such as those made from FRP, aluminum, graphite, and glass-lined steel.

GORE-TEX GR® sheet gasketing is sold through industrial distributors nationwide and overseas. The product is also available in a rigid version for use in large flanged openings, or where gaskets must be positioned in hard-to-reach places.
