Shaft Alignment Tool uses laser guidance.

Press Release Summary:

Fixturlaser OL2RXA laser based wireless shaft alignment tool enables production personnel to adjust fixtures by use of point lasers. System is upgradeable for measurements of dynamic movements, such as thermal growth and process forces. System capabilities include 3D flash tutorials, measurement of several machines, saved measurements, and sight adjustment which enables fixture mounting without alignment-system use.

Original Press Release:

Fixturlaser Launches a Fast and Flexible Method for Alignment of Critical Machines

A production stop can in many ways be compared to car racing pit stop. If you do not use fast, top-of-the-line, tools in the pit, you do not win the race. The same is valid for maintenance of rotating machinery. In today's competitive environment you can not afford long production stops if you want to be a winner. Fixturlaser XA, the 4th generation of laser based shaft alignment tools from Fixturlaser, includes features and functions for extra fast alignment - Express Alignment.

Fixturlaser XA, our wireless shaft alignment system, can now be upgraded with a unique function for measurements of dynamic movements, such as thermal growth, process forces etc; the Fixturlaser OL2RXA (Offline-to-running). The Fixturlaser XA is the only shaft alignment system on the market that includes this function. Other suppliers offer separate systems, using multiple software which do not facilitate the shaft alignment process. The Fixturlaser OL2R, which is protected by patent, is developed to suit the shaft alignment procedure without involving additional evaluation software.

The Fixturlaser OL2RXA contains of fixtures as well as of software. The fixtures of the laser units are both equipped with a point laser, which means that you do not need to use the alignment system in order to mount the fixtures. You just adjust the fixtures until both the lasers are hitting the centre of the opposing target. Thanks to this feature the mounting can be performed fast and by someone who does not necessarily need to have the knowledge about shaft alignment and Fixturlaser XA. Because of this, the use of the Fixturlaser OL2RXA is cost effective.

The included software is based upon the characteristic user interface from the Fixturlaser XA shaft alignment programs. The program includes 3D Flash animations to guide the user throughout the measurement, step-by-step. With the Fixturlaser OL2RXA, you can perform alignment and compensate for the actual dynamic movement in a fast and flexible way. The user can measure several machines (fixtures) with just one Fixturlaser XA system. It is also possible to carry out several "hot" measurements after each other, and thereafter save them separately in the system. After continuing with the "cold" measurements at a later occasion, these measurements can be paired together with the relevant "hot" measurements. This flexible feature will contribute to efficient and short production stops and lower costs of alignment equipment.

The results from a Fixturlaser OL2RXA measurement are machine unique target values that are used in order to accomplish the precision shaft alignment.

The Fixturlaser AB develops, produces and markets laser based shaft alignment systems. Our products are distributed in more than 70 countries. Our representatives are all engineers and technicians with special knowledge and training in the latest measurement and alignment techniques.

Measurements of Dynamic movements are used for critical machines within industries where large temperature differences or other disturbing factors can be found. The need for dynamic measurements is often indicated by high level of vibrations. These high levels, discovered by condition monitoring, will persist even though shaft alignment is performed in cold condition. You may find situations where two identical machines behave totally different though the OEM recommendations have been taken into consideration during the alignment. In order to obtain unique and exact target values, measurements in both hot and cold condition should be performed. High vibration levels are costly and time consuming, however with the Fixturlaser OL2RXA it can be solved fast and easily by any person with knowledge of shaft alignment. The Fixturlaser OL2R are subject to patent SE 524366. Other patents are pending.
