Freewave to Debut the MM2, the Industry's Highest Performance, Smallest Form Factor Military Radio, at AUVSI

Latest addition to FreeWave's product family delivers 900 MHz unparalleled signal performance, small format and attractive price for mission-critical UAV applications

WASHINGTON, D.C. - (AUVSI - BOOTH #727) - Aug. 7, 2007 - FreeWave Technologies, the largest independent provider of high performance spread spectrum and licensed radio products and services in the industry, today announced the MM2 900 MHz radio, the world's highest performing wireless spread spectrum radio with the industry's smallest form factor. The new radio represents a breakthrough in performance, format and price and is ideally suited for advanced military equipment where space is at a premium, such as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV), robotic and guided parachute applications.

"Modern military demands are requiring devices to become more compact and less costly, while continuing to offer a tremendous amount of performance," explained Colin Lippincott, vice president of sales and marketing at FreeWave Technologies. "The MM2 was designed to meet those needs and offers OEMS an industry first by providing the performance of a high-end wireless radio in a small compact form at a price that makes it ideal for military applications."

Specific features of the new MM2 include:
-Smallest footprint in the industry - dimensions are 50.8 mm (length) x 31.5 mm (width) x 9.6 mm (height) -Unparalleled signal performance - the GAsFET RF front end has an unmatched combination of overload immunity and sensitivity -Selectable speeds - ranging 56 KBPS to 1.2 MBPS -Versatile - a single MM2 can operate simultaneously as a slave and as a repeater -High noise immunity - offers superior performance in noise-congested environments -Secure - FreeWave's proprietary spread spectrum technology prevents detection and unauthorized access; offers 128-bit AES encryption -Reliability - 100 percent tested for RF performance from -40 degrees Celsius to +85 degrees Celsius

Also Showcasing FreeWave's 3400SMR That Operates in the 3.3 to 3.5 GHz Band In addition, FreeWave will be demonstrating its recently announced 3400SMR, a board-level, wireless spread spectrum radio designed specifically to operate in the 3.3-3.5 GHz band at AUVSI.

Developed under a fast track program, the 3400SMR went from concept to prototype in less than five weeks. It is available in both board-level and enclosed formats. The 3400SMR provides outstanding performance and versatility in a small footprint that makes it ideally suited for OEM applications. In addition, it offers customers a cost-effective solution by allowing them to incorporate wireless communications into a wide variety of applications.

Key technical specifications include a 20-mile range with clear line-of-site, 350 KHz occupied bandwidth with hopping patterns selectable in 25 MHz zones, single frequency capability, RS232/RS485/RS422 protocols and temperature range of -40 degrees Celsius to +75 degrees Celsius.

Pricing and Availability:
FreeWave's MM2 900 MHz Radio will be available for shipment beginning in the fourth quarter. The 3400SMR is shipping now.
