Danaher Motion Introduces High Performance Kollmorgen Servomotors with Global Platform
Design flexibility eliminates costly "custom" products in many applications
Radford, VA - Danaher Motion introduces Kollmorgen AKM servomotors. The new Kollmorgen AKM motors offer an advanced electromagnetic design with a global feature set to satisfy a broad range of motor application requirements. They are uL, cUL, and TUV listed, and carry the CE mark.
Kollmorgen AKM motors are available in more than 12,000 standard offerings, providing design engineers the greatest level of motor design flexibility for their motion control applications. The unique global platform and flexible features allow users to specify the exact servomotor solution they need, with reduced time to market, superior performance and competitive pricing. The new motors can be coupled with a Kollmorgen S200, S300 or S600 servo drive for a complete, fully optimized servo solution.
Kollmorgen AKM motors provide industry-leading power and performance with higher acceleration and torque in a smaller footprint than comparably sized motors. This allows OEMs to reduce their overall machine size while increasing machine throughput and reliability. The motors are wound with non-overlapping coils, dramatically reducing the potential for phase-to-phase shorting. Kollmorgen AKM assemblies are potted and IP65 sealed to provide rugged durability in harsh applications.
Kollmorgen AKM motors feature a unique electromagnetic design for extremely smooth performance without skewing the rotor or stator. These motors also feature balanced electromagnetics, eliminating the side forces and vibration common to competitive motors that employ unbalanced magnetic designs.
Kollmorgen AKM motors are available in 7 frame sizes with 25 stack/frame combinations, 77 "standard" windings, and 19 different mounting patterns. They are available with multiple connectivity and feedback options, as well as shaft seals and integral brakes. These motors feature a continuous torque range from 0.2 to 53Nm and can provide speeds to 8,000rpm.
Size 1 (40mm square) Kollmorgen AKM motors are insulated for 240VAC, with windings configured for low voltage DC, 120VAC or 240VAC operation. All other Kollmorgen AKM series motors are insulated for 480VAC with winding options for low voltage DC, 120VAC, 240VAC, 400VAC or 480VAC systems. Standardized high-voltage insulation provides maximum design flexibility and robust motor operation across applications.
