Servo Control uses space vector modulation.

Press Release Summary:

MicroFlex single-axis, brushless drive is software selectable for different feedback devices and uses space vector modulation to control power devices. Offered in 3, 6, and 9 A (continuous) models with 200% peak current, unit operates from single source or three-phase 115-230 Vac input. It may be configured as torque or velocity package using standard ±10 Vdc input command and may also be used with step and direction input.

Baldor Announces New Low Cost Servo Control

Baldor Electric Company, Fort Smith, Arkansas based manufacturer of energy saving industrial electric motors, drives and generators, announces a new servo control which can help designers trim costs about 40% less, while improving motor speed, smoothness, and providing high resolution and space vector modulation.

The new servo control from Baldor, the MicroFlex, is a single axis brushless drive. The MicroFlex is software selectable for different feedback devices, such as incremental encoder, synchronous serial interface (SSI) encoder, or Hall sensors. The SSI provides 17-bit resolution for high-resolution packages. By controlling the power devices using space vector modulation (SVM) instead of pulse width modulation (PWM), designers can operate servo motors at 15% higher speeds, which translates into greater machine throughput.

MicroFlex models are available in 3, 6 and 9 amps continuous-with 200% peak current-and will operate from either single source or three phase 115-230 Vac input. They may be configured as either a torque or velocity package using the standard +/-10 Vdc input command, or it may be used with a step and direction input. MicroFlex includes software setup and fully featured auto-tuning using Baldor's Windows software environment. This tool assists in installing the unit rapidly and efficiently. Baldor has MicroFlex models in stock for immediate delivery.
