Supermicro Releases Low Voltage Dual-Core Intel® Xeon® Server Solution

Maximized Performance per Watt with Low Heat and Low Noise

SAN JOSE, Calif., Feb. 7 / -- Building on its rich history of delivering high-performance and innovative platforms to customers worldwide, Supermicro announces the availability of its low-voltage Intel(R) Xeon processor based Server solutions, extending an already aggressive line of enterprise server products. The X6DLP-4G2/ X6DLP-EG2 serverboards are multi- core enterprise platforms that support the new dual-core Intel Xeon processors LV, utilizing only a 31W processor power envelope enabling the system to run efficiently on minimal cooling and while generating low heat and low fan noise. The low-voltage solutions gain from lower thermal design power making it ideal for thermally sensitive, space-constrained cluster environments.

The new dual-core Intel Xeon processor LV, codenamed "Sossaman," is designed on Intel's 65-nanometer technology manufacturing process. Sossaman, based on the Intel's next-generation, power-optimized micro-architecture, will offer dramatically improved performance and greatly reduced power consumption. The brand new 32-bit dual-core Intel Xeon LV processor with 2MB of L2 cache running at 2 GHz is based on the existing Pentium M architecture and offered power-saving features with Demand Based Switching, and Enhanced Speedstep Technology (EIST).

"Supermicro continues to address the diverse needs of the server market with the integration of low-voltage server solutions," said Charles Liang, Supermicro President and CEO. "Indeed, these new Sossaman-based solutions deliver world-class performance per watt and optimized price-performance ratio, further strengthening Supermicro's leadership over competitive enterprise solutions."

"Supermicro and Intel understand the value of low-power, high-performance server platforms with reduced Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)," said Kirk Skaugen, Vice President and General Manager of Server Platforms Group at Intel. "The new Dual-Core Intel(R) Xeon(R) processor LV offers businesses a compelling solution for high-density, thermally challenged data centers."

Power-designed for the new dual-core Intel Xeon Processor LV with 2M L2 cache and power-saving features, the SUPER X6DLP-4G2 and SUPER X6DLP-EG2 serverboards deliver outstanding multi-tasking performance without high power consumption. Based on the E7520 (Lindenhurst) chipset, both boards leverage up to 16GB of ECC Reg. DDRII memory and support both PCI-X and PCI-Express cards via universal expansion slots, while the onboard PCI-Express gigabit LAN offers maximum I/O throughput and networking connectivity.

To enhance early adoption for the consumer and channel market and meet end-user's demand for low-power/high-performance computing needs, Supermicro makes available a solid lineup of compatible chassis products, namely SC811LF- 260, SC813MS-300C, and SC512LF-260. These chassis feature exceptionally designed low-speed, energy-saving low noise fans.
