FatWire Software Releases Content Server 6 to Help Companies "Put Content to Work"

Latest Edition Further Enhances Strengths in Ease-of-Adoption and Ease-of-Deployment

Mineola, NY - October 12, 2004 - FatWire Software, a leading provider of enterprise content management solutions for deploying content-centric applications, today announced the release of Content Server 6, the latest edition of its enterprise level software. Content Server 6 builds on FatWire's traditional strengths in ease of adoption for content owners/marketing users and ease of deployment for IT developers, by adding major new features that help organizations speed multi-site deployments, increase reuse of existing assets, provide higher levels of security and utilize Content Server in portal environments. This latest version of Content Server is available and shipping to customers today.

"Content Server is used by many of the world's leading businesses in the financial services, healthcare, retail, telecommunications, media and entertainment industries. Our customers want to do more than just manage content, they want to put it to work by deploying content-centric applications and sites that support their critical business goals," said Mark Fasciano, CEO of FatWire Software. "The new and enhanced features in Content Server 6 make it even easier for companies to leverage their enterprise content to have more effective and persuasive interactions with customers, partners, and employees."

Specific new and enhanced features include:

Site Launcher. Allows administrators to easily duplicate an existing or prototype site within Content Server 6 with just a few clicks. When creating the new site, the user can specify whether the content, business logic, and workflows should be copied from or shared with the original site, depending on the level of reuse the company desires. Companies can use this feature to create a boilerplate site that can be used to rapidly create large numbers of similar sites. Another use is to duplicate a live site in order to develop the next version of that site. By speeding the deployment of multi-site initiatives and saving time and money through the reuse of assets, Site Launcher enables companies to rationalize and consolidate Web architectures.

SAFE (Secure Authorization for Enterprise). Increases the flexibility of the Content Server security model by allowing authorized users to easily control access to content at any level of the repository hierarchy, from broad categories down to individual assets. Specific functions, such as edit or approve, can be granted or denied at any level to ensure security of enterprise content assets.

Portal Integration. Content Server 6 includes 17 pre-built portlets that make integration with enterprise portals fast and easy. These portlets support the new JSR 168 portlet standard that defines how portals interface with other systems. Included portlets allow users to easily complete content management tasks and processes (create, edit, approve, and publish) all from within the portal environment.

InSite Editor 2. InSite Editor is a rich interface that enables content owners and marketing personnel to edit content in context, by making the changes directly on the delivered page within a site. Improvements allow users to make multiple changes on a page, review a summary of changes, and save or cancel all pending changes at once. In addition, it offers improved searching, adds support for workflow features, and integrates with SAFE to observe security policies.

Content Server 6 continues FatWire's commitment to providing a flexible, scalable platform that can be used by FatWire, its solution partners and its customers to deploy content-centric applications. "Companies are realizing that in order to use the Web to acquire and retain customers, static Web sites must evolve into dynamic, context-sensitive applications that deliver the right message to the right user at the right time," said John Murcott, VP of Products and Strategy at FatWire Software. "Content Server 6 makes it easier for companies to deploy multiple applications and sites, and to allow business users to control the experiences that customers have on those sites."
