Flexible, High-Performance Climate Control with Monitoring and without Raised Floor

Bayable server cooling from Rittal

Flexible, high-performance climate control with monitoring and without raised floor
Rittal's new LCP Inline is an efficient, high-performance cooling system for optimum cooling of servers even without raised floors. The LCP Inline can also be retrofitted into mixed server architectures without having to modify the server racks in any way. Thanks to its numerous monitoring functions the LCP Inline can be integrated completely into the data centre monitoring environment.

Herborn, 25 July 2008 - Rittal's new LCP Inline combines the slim design of the Rittal LCP (Liquid Cooling Package) with the function of an air conditioner with a useful cooling output of 30 kW. The new Rittal cooling system is particularly suitable for server architectures without raised floor cooling. The LCP Inline, which is only 300 mm wide, is installed inside the server rack rows. The warm air is drawn in from the room or from the warm aisle at the rear of the unit. The high-performance heat exchanger cools the air and blows it into the cool aisle at the front at an ideal angle of 180°. At a maximum air flow rate of 4,600 m3/h, the system distributes the air very evenly. In the cold aisle the cooling medium is then available to the consumers, i.e. the IT equipment, and is utilised, for example, by the server fans. As the side panels are not perforated the system can also be easily installed in mixed server rack architectures with different depths without having to modify the server racks. The sturdy frame based on the TS8 system is completely adapted to server and network enclosures. Thanks to its numerous monitoring functions the LCP Inline can be integrated into the complete IT environment and monitored via Remote Management Software. Alarm and status messages inform the user e.g. about the flow and return temperatures, fan speed, flow rate, leaks or inlet and outlet temperature. The network-capable system controller uses this information to supply an optimum flow of cool air. The bayable, high-performance cooling system is compatible with all established communication standards such as SNMP.

The LCP Inline reveals its greatest performance and efficiency in combination with Rittal's cold aisle containment system. This passes the chilled air even more effectively directly to the servers, instead of releasing into the room in general. With the optional LCP Inline front cover with built-in filter fleece the air outflow is distributed evenly to all sides. In addition, this reduces the air outlet velocity, the secondary fans e.g. at the servers can absorb the air better and draughts are diminished.

Overall, the new high-performance LCP Inline cooling system impresses due to its great flexibility even in the case of different server rack designs, its very high cooling capacity and its numerous monitoring functions.
