Serial I/O Adapter fits CompactPCI-based computers.

Press Release Summary:

ISO COMM2.cPCI multi-interface I/O adapter provides two individually selectable RS-232/422/485 isolated serial ports that support data rates up to 921.6 Kbps. True port to port optical isolation eliminates effects of ground loop current. It isolates not only signals, but also isolates ports from each other. Auto-enable hardware automatically handles RS-485 driver, allowing RS-485 ports to be treated as standard serial ports by operating system

Sealevel Systems, Inc. Announces Compact PCI Multi-Interface Isolated Serial I/O Adapter

"The newest specification for PCI-based industrial computers"

Liberty, SC (Mar. 29, 2002) - Sealevel Systems, Inc. announces a new CompactPCI Multi-Interface Serial I/O Adapter. The new ISO COMM2.cPCI provides 2 individually selectable RS-232/422/485 isolated serial ports, supporting data rates up to 921.6K bps.

Isolation is important in installations where the equipment connected to the PC is either located far from the host system, or on a different power transformer circuit. True port to port optical isolation on the ISO COMM2.cPCI eliminates the effects of Ground Loop Current, a commonly neglected and misunderstood phenomenon that leads to data errors and the destruction of communications equipment. Sealevel's implementation goes a step beyond typical isolated products by isolating not only the signals, but also isolating the ports from each other.

Select RS-232 when highly reliable serial ports are required for short distances. Choose the RS-422 mode for long distance device connections up to 4000ft., where noise immunity and high data integrity are essential. In RS-485 mode, our "industry first" auto-enable hardware automatically handles the RS-485 driver enable allowing the RS-485 ports to be treated as standard serial ports by the operating system. This allows the standard COM: driver to be utilized for RS-485 communications.

The ISO COMM2.cPCI model number 7903 lists at $599.00, including a lifetime warranty. OEM and volume pricing are available.

Sealevel also provides 9-pin terminal blocks to simplify serial connections. Part numbers TBO5 and TB06 provide DB9 female connectors and screw terminals. The TB05 gives the user a single 9-pin connection, while the TB06 provides two 9-pin connections. The TB05 and TB06 connect directly to the onboard ports of the cPCI card. A 3U to 6U adapter (part number 3U6U), for 6U compatibility is also available.

The TB05 is priced at $19.95 and $28.95 when purchased as part number KT105. The KT105 kit includes a 6ft. 9-pin male to female cable. The TB06 is priced at $24.95 and $43.95 when purchased as part number KT106. The KT106 kit includes two 6ft. 9-pin male to female cables. The 3U6U adapter retails at $79.95.

All products ship with Sealevel Systems' SeaCOM(TM) suite of Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP drivers. In addition to Windows drivers and utilities, SeaCOM(TM) includes drivers, utilities, application notes, and technical details to simplify installations in Linux, QNX and DOS.
